Courtney's Point of View

What started as a friendship within our freshman-year friend group in 2021 was just a girl who didn’t like to talk much and a boy who liked to talk A LOT! I saw David as just a friend for quite some time until I got to know him a little better, and my heart started to grow day by day.Sophomore year rolled around, and I realized I did, in fact, like him—so I did what no girl ever does and told him straight to his face that I had feelings for him. This happened right before Christmas break, so I ripped the Band-Aid off and fled from Montana for a month. I was worried I had ruined a perfectly good friendship that I had no business messing up, but when the spring semester of 2023 rolled around, we somehow just got closer and closer. I ended up being his go-to for airport drop-offs, pick-ups, and our Wednesday night friend group excursions to Dairy Queen.Junior year came around, and thanks to a road trip through Washington with our college best friends—Maggie, CJ, and Luke—we found ourselves in some serious bonding situations. Out of nowhere, David started making “friendly comments” toward me, which quite a few people (except me) caught on to. We were supposed to go to a Lumineers concert at the Gorge in Washington; however, traffic forced us to cancel our plans after sitting in line for hours. That’s when David and I just started talking about life.

As Courtney and I continued having our conversations in the car, I knew there was something different about her. I wanted to keep talking to her for many more hours, but unfortunately, our friends hopped back in the car. Later during the trip, I finally found time to talk with Courtney again, one-on-one. We found ourselves sitting on the beach, talking while our friends went for a walk. I kept asking her thoughtful questions to keep her intrigued and sitting next to me.That night, I told CJ, “I think I have feelings for Courtney, and I don’t know what to do about it!” He told me to pray, trust the Lord, and see where it goes. After the trip, I needed to find a way to keep the conversation going. I found a random pair of socks in my car and thought they might be Courtney’s. So, in order to talk to her, I sent her a picture of the socks and asked if they were hers. Let’s just say we’ve texted every day since then.As time passed, I always made an effort to see her during the school week. Seeing her during the week quickly turned into weekend walks, which soon led to our friends asking why we were spending so much time together. Then the time finally came when I needed to make a move… but I didn’t. After two long months, Courtney ended up telling me to take her on our “first date,” where we talked about us and a potential future. A month later, I finally asked her to be my girlfriend.We grew closer and closer, and after our spring semester in 2024, I went to Georgia for the first time. That summer, Courtney and I spent two months apart while I was fishing in Alaska. Before we knew it, we were back in the same state with a stronger relationship than before I left. The next year went by quickly, and before I knew it, I was back in Alaska for fishing season #2. However, this time, I had a bigger incentive for going back up north to work — a ring.After I returned, I started planning how I was going to propose. With the help of Courtney’s sister, Katie, and her uncle Carl, I got her out to Ennis Lake on October 5th, 2025. After walking to our favorite spot on the lake and reminiscing over some photos I had set up, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me — and she quickly said, “Yes!”

Hello friends and family! We're so excited to be able to celebrate our marriage with y'all in Bozeman, Montana! For those of you who will be flying in, you will fly into Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) and drive about 15 minutes to your hotel. We would recommend everyone arrive at least one day before the ceremony and book lodging accommodations at one of the locations listed below. We have reserved hotel rooms at Homewood Suites and Home 2 Suites; however, you are more the welcome to book anywhere you like! We added plenty of accommodation options below including local favorites to offer guidance for our out-of-town loved ones. What is the dresscode?

Semi-formal attire is appreciated for all guests! We want everyone to feel their most comfortable!

What time should I arrive?

We ask that all guests arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.We would like everyone to be seated comfortably and withample time before the ceremony begins.

What's the weather going to be like?

June in Bozeman...who knows???Please be prepared with a rain jacket and/or umbrellaas June weather in Bozeman can be unpredictable. Please bring a warm jacket of some sort -while the sun sets late in the day, once it goes down, it gets CHILLY!!

Can we take photos & videos during the ceremony?

We kindly request that NO phones or camerasbe present during the ceremony.Our professional photographers will be capturinghigh-quality photos and videos of the ceremony. Guests will have access to these photos in the few weeks following the ceremony

Can we take photos & videos during the reception?

Personal photos and videos will be allowedduring the reception—we'd love to see our celebration captured through your eyes!

Walk Pete's Hill

Located next to Lindley Park and next to Downtown, this is where we had our first"unofficial date" and walked around to look at the stars under the big sky! A slight inclinedwalk offers you views of 5 surrounding mountain ranges! Just type "Pete's Hill"into your maps and you'll be taken to the nearest parking lot!

Hike the "M"

Weather permitting, this is a Bozeman tradition!A 2.5 mile roundtrip, intermediate level hike offering amazing views of Bozeman!Just plug in "College M Trail" into maps and you'll be on your way!

Explore Hyalite Canyon

A beautiful scenic drive up to Hyalite Reservoir with many flat walking trails, and some more challenging hikes if you're up for it, or just simply sit and enjoy the sun and water!It's about a 30 minute drive on a windy road from Bozeman to the lake.

Gallatin Valley Mall

It's nothing special, but does offer some indoor shopping options in the event of rainy or cold weather. Located near Whole Foods and the Movie Theater

Headwaters state park

Just a 30 minute drive, located in 3 Forks, Montana you'll find miles of flat walking trails around the 3 rivers - the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson - where they come together to form the beginning of the Missouri River. You can fly fish, float, swim, or just enjoy the scenic rivers!

Float the Madison

Weather permitting, this is a fun way to experience beautiful Montana scenery!Floating may take anywhere from 3-4 hours with 1.5 roundtrip drive time, so plan accordingly!https://madisonrivertubing.com/

Yellowstone National Park

A 2 hour drive south of Bozeman and you'll find the famousYellowstone National Park with stunning summer views!This is a great activity if it's windy or rainy! If you plan on finding hikes, which you definitely should,PLEASE take bear spray as a precaution! Bear spray can be foundat just about any grocery store, Costco, or ACE hardware.

Glacier National Park

Headed up north? Glacier National Park is a must!Some of the most beautiful scenery in Montana is found here!Once again, PLEASE take bear spray as a precaution!
