Our Story

Our Story

Sarah and Craig's story started via mutual friends, but not in the way you would think. Craig was referred to a company with a job opening by a friend and former fraternity brother. Sarah was working with a friend at said company who had dated Craig's friend. While waiting for the interviewer to be ready, we began chatting and enjoying each other’s company. In true "us" fashion, we were both already cracking jokes to the other.

After our first date, we knew we had something special. We have shared many wonderful dates throughout our 6 years together. Favorite memories of ours include, walking from Sarah’s tiny studio to downtown Petaluma, hiking in Marin and beyond, weekend happy hours, ferry dates from Sausalito, wine tasting all over Sonoma County, and the simple ones like taking the dogs for a picnic.

Moving to San Rafael as a couple was the next big step for us. Although those who know us well know that we had our qualms about the apartment, we certainly have fond memories of living on the water. We ate dinner outside every summer evening, kayaked, and had pedal boat dates with Kona, a coffee and breakfast sandwich. During Christmas time, the lighted boat parade would tour past our deck and we would cozy up at the firepit with a glass of wine and blanket inevitably making us forget about the awful array of paint colors that waited for us inside.

After months of ring shopping and waiting for the right moment, Craig proposed to Sarah during a hike they enjoyed regularly in Tennessee Valley right along the coast. It was private and special, just the way we had hoped for.

During the pandemic, we began to look for a more permanent place to call home. After painstakingly making offers on homes, we finally bought in Petaluma and couldn't be happier. Shortly after Covid restrictions were lifted and we returned back to work we had wanted to get a buddy to keep Kona company in her new found backyard space. Maggie was adopted from the humane society in Silicon Valley in October and she has proven to keep us on our toes since she arrived home. The bond that Kona and Maggie have formed is something truly special and brings us joy every day.

High on the house shopping list was yard space for Kona, which she really appreciates but it became such a special place for us all to spend our time. We find ourselves back outside having dinner every summer evening, no water in front of us this time, but rather two dogs running the length of the yard on repeat which is arguably an even better view.

As we've settled into our home, we've had many of you over for dinner and fire pit nights and we treasure that time with all our friends and family. We are grateful for all the wonderful relationships in our lives. Thank you for being a part of our story and for those of you who are able to make the journey to Ireland, words cannot express what that means to us. To those who understandably cannot, we look forward to celebrating with you as soon as we can.

Cheers!
