“It’s a jungle out there”. We’ve all heard it applied to many of different things, but most often, dating. In 2020, among the tigers (jerks), jaguars (no-shows), and tse-tse flies, carrying sleeping sickness (COVID), Jen and Craig braved the elements to meet each other in the hot summer sun. What followed was a rambling conversation over a couple of beers and a mutual interest to meet again. A couple weeks later, they shared their first kiss after a wonderful meal on the patio at Lindey’s restaurant.

Days, weeks, months, and yes, years followed and for each of those periods, one thing remained true, they wanted to spend every moment together.

Thanks to a new job working remotely for InvestigateTV+, Jen had to travel frequently to New Orleans for meetings and for a trip in March of 2023, Craig decided to “tag along”. After a long evening of trying to find the right moment at famous sites, restaurants, bars, and even the middle of Bourbon Street, the ring in Craig’s pocket couldn’t wait another day. While walking through Lafayette Square to their hotel, Craig sensed that Jen was about to break gait into a run to avoid the rain as it was beginning to fall. He tapped her on the shoulder and when Jen turned around, in the dark, in the rain, with random-park dwellers looking on, she turned to see Craig on one knee, ring extended.
