Our Wedding

We first met as teachers at World Class Kayak Academy, where we acted as the responsible adults to a group of teenagers we traveled the world with. We taught classes in between cooking large group meals and figuring out the logistics to kayaking some of the world's best rivers. Together, we explored Mexico, Nepal, Chile, Canada, and the West Coast of the United States. From the start, we shared a connection..

Crista left WCA and moved to British Columbia, while Brian continued to work with students in various parts of the world, we stayed close. We kept in touch and planned trips together whenever we could. We met up in Northern BC, Ecuador, and many trips with friends to the Gorge or Idaho. Over time, we grew even closer, supporting each other through life’s twists and turns.

Until one day we realized that maybe we weren’t just friends after all. The timing wasn’t exactly convenient. Crista was living in BC full time, and Brian was leaving to teach for the summer in Albania. But we had already planned a trip to Russia together, so we knew we’d see each other soon and navigate the Siberian taiga together.

From there it wasn’t exactly simple.. we visited each other whenever we could. Then, just as Crista was planning to visit Brian and meet his family in Colorado, the world shut down. The pandemic threw everything into uncertainty, but we didn’t give up. By December, Brian found his way across the nearly closed border. After a hasty drop at the border with his ski bag in tow, Brian walked into Canada and has called Squamish home ever since.

These days, we spend more time in the mountains than on the rivers, but we feel so lucky to have found our life partners in each other—someone to navigate life’s challenges and triumphs, dreams and goals, and everything in between. Now, we can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you!

Our personal favourite ice cream spot! This is a must. There are two locations in Squamish, one of them is dangerously close to our house. Definitely get the waffle cone!

Just down the road from the venue is an amazing cafe on the banks of the river. A great spot close for brunch! But beware.. it can be really busy.

Fergie's Café

The Sea to Sky Gondola has stunning panoramic views of Howe Sound and the surrounding mountains. You can hike up and take the gondola down or take the gondola up and down. At the summit enjoy a cozy lodge with local food and drinks.

The quintessential Squamish hike - the Chief! Nature’s “stair‑master” to reach three distinct summits with ladders and chains that reward you with breathtaking panoramic views of Howe Sound, Garibaldi’s peaks, and the town below. The most popular, First Peak is about ~4 km round‑trip with ~540 m elevation.

Great for camping, running or biking. We would recommend the 4 lakes loop!

Alice Lake Provincial Park

House of Lager is Squamish’s new waterfront brewery &amp; restaurant. It is located at Sp’akw’us Feather Park, a new 11-acre park right on the Squamish waterfront. Be mindful it's really windy!
