Ryan and I met in the Summer of 2018. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to get to know him. I bothered him relentlessly asking him to play cards with me (which I beat him at). From there we had multiple hangouts and I was always wondering "When is he going to kiss me?" Well, that took a couple months, but it was well worth the wait. I spoiled the surprise of Ryan asking me to be his girlfriend, so he asked me out sooner than he planned, but that didn't matter. Since then, we have lived near and far. He travelled to Florida in the Summer of 2019 and then got a job at Alma in the Fall of 2019. Distance was not breaking us apart. After some life decisions, he moved in with me AND my family in February of 2020 (right before the world crashed). From then, we have learned how to live with and love each other. Our love has only grown from there. I knew I wanted to marry Ryan, but this time I was waiting patiently (some may say otherwise), unlike the time when he was going to ask me out. Fast forward to the day of our engagement, I asked him before we went out "What are we celebrating tonight at dinner tonight? Are we getting engaged?" This definitely shocked him, but Ryan and his wit came back quickly and said we were celebrating his new basketball team SEfive (an accomplishment we are both so proud of). We went downtown and I almost spoiled his plans (again) because I wanted to get to dinner early, but again, Ryan and his wit came to play. He saw the photographers and got me back outside by asking our waitress to take our picture by the fountain. We were looking over the picture and the waitress asked "So, are we celebrating anything tonight?" I started to respond to say we are celebrating SEfive, but Ryan interrupted and asked me to marry him. All I can remember from his speech is "Three years ago..." because I was so overwhelmed with emotion. It was the best day ever.
