Steve and I met when we worked together at Schwan’s. As we worked together we developed a mutual respect for each other based on our work ethics as well as an appreciation for our similar senses of humor. I left Schwan’s after two years when I ended up with a manager that was lazy and incompetent at his job, and showed no interest in trying to improve as a manager. I was devastated when I left Schwan’s, because of the friendships I was leaving behind (Steve’s included) as I had met so many truly amazing people during my time there and those friendships had become SO important to me. To this day, I still mourn the other friendships I left behind.

Fast forward several months later to sometime in early 2018. Steve texted me to catch up briefly and when I mentioned how much I missed our camaraderie, suggested that we get together at Starbucks. I jumped at the chance to renew one of those friendships that I thought was gone forever!

Now for anyone who really knows Steve, you know how unrealistic it is that he would ever drink coffee from Starbucks. This was just the start of him showing just how thoughtful and considerate he can truly be (when he wants to be) because when we worked together I came in with my Starbucks several times a week. We proceeded to text daily after that and started getting together every weekend for a movie or event of some type and we just never looked back. 😍 I actually discovered that I don’t hate watching hockey and baseball games. Football, though, is still another story.

Fun fact: we’ve never celebrated an anniversary because we actually don’t have one. There was no specific defining moment as to when our friendship evolved from friendship to relationship, and also we never kept track of when that coffee “date” was.
