While we'll have several events throughout the weekend, there will be plenty of time for our guests to explore all that southern Vermont has to offer! VERMONT TRADITION SINCE 1892
Cheesemaking traditions in the historic Village of Grafton, Vermont date from the 19th century.
The Grafton Cooperative Cheese Company was founded in 1892 by dairy farmers who gathered together in a cooperative to make their surplus raw milk into cheese. In the days before refrigeration, there were many such cooperatives in the rural agricultural communities and an abundance of fresh, creamy milk was turned into a food that could be stored for a longer period of time.
The Brattleboro Specialty Cheese & Wine Shop is located close to Route 91, across from the river next to The Retreat Farm (another great activity with farm animals, walking trails, a gift shop, and learning opportunities).
Located at 400 Linden Street (Route 30), Brattleboro. Open daily, 10 am – 6 pm. 802-246-2221 x101.
The Vermont Country Store in nearby Bellows Falls is a must-see attraction for anyone spending time in the area. Snap a picture at its iconic kissing bridge, pick through jars of penny candy, and try on your own Vermont flannel. The VCS sells everything from clothing to HomeGoods and offers tastings of maple syrup, homemade salsas and dips, delicious Vermont-made cheese, and more!
If you're looking to do a little (tax-free) shopping or explore Caitlin and Crystal's homebase, this is the place to be! Check out the iconic Parish shoes sign from the filming of the original 1995 Jumanji, visit Sole's speakeasy for a unique dining experience that steps you back in time, or stop by Elm City Brewery where Caitlin and Crystal shared their first date!
Just forty five minutes south of Grafton is Brattleboro, Vermont's arsty, jewel. The downtown area boasts plenty of antique shops, funky restaurants, and art galleries. The Whetstone Beer Company roof and deck offers great views of the Connecticut River, and the Latchis Theatre across the street regularly offers films and shows in a 20th century historic theatre. Take a stroll through the Creamery Covered Bridge, a beautiful example of 19th century New England covered bridges. If you do decide to visit, wear you're walking shoes, it's called the Green Mountain state for a reason!
