Q & A with the Bride

When is the big day?

Friday, November 22, 2024!

Why Mexico?

Instead of a traditional wedding in the states where we celebrate for a few hours, we want to share a wedding experience with you! A few hours isn't enough... we want days of laughs, tequila cocktails, and endless love.

Is Mexico safe?

Don't try to buy/sell drugs or start some nonsense with people and you'll be fine. But if you get arrested I do not know enough Spanish to bail you out. Plus all my money is going into this wedding sooooo....

Do I need a passport for Mexico?

Yes! Please make sure to have a valid passport that does not expire within six months of your return. So, if your passport expires May 2025 or sooner, please make sure it is renewed. If you do not already have a passport, allow enough time for it to be mailed to you. I had to rush mine and it was not cheap.

Can I bring my kids?

ABSOLUTELY! This is a family-friendly event/vacation!

Will my kids need a passport, too?

Yes! It’s a little trickier for children so this is what the site says: All children under age 16 must apply for a passport in person with two parents or guardians. If one parent/guardian cannot go with the child to apply for the passport, they can give permission by completing a Statement of Consent form. You must submit the completed form with the child's passport application. The parent that cannot go with the child must sign and date Form DS-3053 in the presence of a certified notary public and submit a photocopy of the front and back side of the ID that they present to the notary public with Form DS-3053.

Which airline should I choose?

Pick a flight that best aligns with your desired departure/arrival time and your ideal price range. We typically fly American but I’ve heard Delta and United are good, too. Due to the time difference, account for all day traveling.

What's included with Xcaret? How can I learn more?

It's all inclusive! Your drinks, alcohol, and food is included in the price PLUS admission to eight different parks and a handful of different tours. Check out the Mexico Travel section to learn more!

How do I get from the airport to the resort?

The closest airport is Cancun (CUN). Xcaret has its own bus that will take hotel guests from the airport to the resort for free. The buses run every 30 minutes. If you would prefer a private ride, please reach out to our travel agent, Alyssa Dial, and she can get that arranged for you.

What do I wear to the parks and excursions?

It is recommended that you bring comfortable clothes that help you with the tropical warmth. Consider hats, water tennis shoes, and a change of clothes in case you want to bring your favorite outfit and rock it for the photos. Cotton garments are perfect for keeping you cool, but a good tip is also considering beach/swimwear. Don't forget 100% biodegradable UV protection to enjoy the water activities and a towel. In case you forget your beach clothes, towel, or sunscreen you can buy them in one of the stores.

Do I have to participate in every activity you have planned?

Heck no! This is YOUR vacation, too! Technically you don't even have to attend the wedding but that would be very sus. You can join in on anything you want to join in on and you can also do your own thing. Take advantage of all that Xcaret has to offer because we won't be able to do everything this round so make sure to enjoy your trip, too!

This Xcaret resort sucks... Will you have alternative options for places to stay?

First off, how dare you. Second, yes! Our travel agent, Alyssa Dial, can assist you with your hotel stay if you choose to stay at another resort. Please note that Xcaret does not offer day passes or allow non-guests to walk around their property. You can still do the parks and excursions with us if you want to- you would just pay separately for the activities you want to do.

If I choose to stay at a different hotel/resort, can I still attend the wedding?

YES! Our venue is off-resort so there is no additional charge for you to attend. The only thing you'll need to consider is transportation but our travel agent, Alyssa Dial, can assist with that.

What's the weather like? How should I pack?

It's HOT! Even in November. And very humid. I highly suggest flowy attire like dresses, skirts, linen pants, linen shorts, etc. GENTLEMEN, you MUST wear pants and a collared shirt at the restaurants for dinner. It's not our rules - don't kill the messenger. Remember to pack your swimsuits (and, yes, I mean plural)!

Do I have to tip?

Tipping is highly encouraged but it's not mandatory. Make sure to bring small bills, though. Unless you're ok tipping $20 at a time. Which then let me send you my Christmas, birthday, wedding wishlist, baller.

What's the dress code for the wedding?

Dress code is "Don't Melt or Get a Heat Stroke" - We want you to be comfortable! Only amateurs will be in heels. We are literally on a beach.

Is the wedding outside or inside?

Kind of both. Mostly outside, though. If it rains, we're getting wet :) We'll all go down together.

How do I get from our resort to the wedding?

If you are staying at Xcaret then we will have you covered already! If you are staying at another hotel/resort, you will need to secure transportation through a taxi. Our travel agent, Alyssa Dial, can assist you with that.
