Near the end of Crystal's first year of being an attorney at the San Diego County Public Defender's Office, she was approached by her supervisor. Her supervisor asked her if she would be willing to commute to Vista from San Diego. He promised that it would not be long, and she could go wherever she wanted once she did her "hardship" tour in Vista. Begrudgingly, Crystal agreed to "volunteer" to go to the Vista office. Little did she know that fate had something in store for her.
In May of 2015, John was finishing his "hardship" tour in Downtown San Diego, where the grind never ends. He was looking forward to being back at the Vista office, an office he had been at for about 8 years before. Little did he know that his life was about to drastically change.
Crystal and John were introduced to each other at the meddling hands of colleagues and supervisors. They met at a work lunch where it was carefully calculated that they would sit next to each other. Crystal assumed John was married, and John knew Crystal was out of his league. After the lunch, both of them started to see each other around the Vista Courthouse. Crystal would tell her colleagues "John is cool. He really gets in the way of my fishing, but I guess I'll keep him, he just barely a keeper and usually smells better than a batch of day old fishing gear." John told his friends "Not sure about this Crystal. She seems as though she may get in the way of me watching The Simpsons and my tie-dyed clothes."
The two soon discovered that they have found that one person who could put up with each other idiosyncrasies. Crystal, who arrived in San Diego from her hometown of South Pasadena by way of Georgia, was happily fishing up a storm every weekend when she met John. John, who arrived in San Diego from his hometown of Anaheim by way of Santa Cruz, was regularly swimming in the very same ocean Crystal was fishing.
As their relationship continued, the two found that they enjoyed road trips, sarcasm, and terrible cartoon shows together. On a trip to Oahu this year, John got down on one knee and "popped" the question on a beach after dinner. The two plan on getting married at the same place they took their first vacation together. They hope you love the place as much as they do.
The happy couple are looking forward to a long life surrounded by friend and family, and hope to someday surmount the Angels/Dodgers divide that thus far has been the only blemish on their relationship.
