“What did the dog say when it sat on sandpaper?”
A horrible pickup line that broke the ice just enough to get the girl of my dreams attention,
Yes our love story started with me taking a chance and DM’ing THE Crystal Jewels Winner, it was a stretch but Im so glad I took the chance.
I owe a HUGE thank you to Samantha Hackey as it was only through her I found out who Crystal was since they danced together. It wasn't until 2021 that we officially went on our first date and by this time I am in Greensboro NC, playing Division 1 Baseball for UNCG and with little time off THE Crystal Winner got the courage to come visit me. I remember being so excited that she was coming and also a little nervous… how do you make a 4 hour drive worth it??
Well my answer was Sushi. Crystal had never had sushi and I loved it myself so it was a Perfect way to make a memory.
That is until Baseball ruined my plans and kept me at the field until after the sushi restaurant closed. You can imagine my reaction. she came all this way and I cant even make dinner in time. Forced into being quick on my feet I resorted to a go to restaurant my family would go to every Tuesday, Rudy’s.
Rudy’s wasn’t my first choice for a romantic evening but with it being late at night and low on options I knew they had delicious fettuccine Alfredo so it was a safe bet to please.
After a great meal and spending the night learning more and more about each other I knew I was in trouble, this woman had me so desperate to see her again that before she could get out of the car I asked her to go to breakfast the following morning!
(For those of you who know me, this was an off day, to which we ate bright and early, I don’t wake up till 12pm and this woman had me begging her for breakfast at the crack of dawn lol.)
I think breakfast sealed the deal because after that I was head over heels for her and havent looked back since. I soon asked her to be my girlfriend very romantically in a Walmart parking lot ( I have my romantic moments this just happens to not be one of them).
Our love grew over the next 3 years, battling through college and then taking on the real world, and through many ups and downs we always did it together. I cant be more thankful that God led such an incredible woman into my life.
On October 20th 2024, with the help of our stud of a Dachshund Obi, I got down on one knee and asked Crystal to marry me.
I thank you all for joining us on this special occasion and cant wait to celebrate our future with you all.
And to my wonderful Fiancé as always,
I love you to the moon and back
I can only imagine you are still questioning the golden line that secured my wife to be… So what did that dog say when it sat on the sandpaper??
Rough.
