It all started like in the movies. Haha, jk. I, Haley, was hanging out with my friend, having a couple of drinks, and I decided to send him a message on Facebook. We were Facebook friends for a while and never talked, but he would like some of the stuff on my Facebook. I kept telling myself I would message him, but sober me would never have the guts to send the first message. It was literally a first for me. It honestly felt weird at first because it was a first for me. One of the best decisions I ever made. We hit it off right away, so well that it honestly felt weird at first because it was a first for me. Definitely something I had to get used to. He asked me to go on a date with him at the House of Japan. He picked me up, and we ordered some yummy food, but I don’t think either of us hardly even ate much of it. We were both very nervous.
Then we went to lunch at South Street, which is now my favorite restaurant. We had talked about a Nelly, T.I., Ashanti, and Ja Rule concert, and then he literally told me that he got us tickets. I was beyond excited. Umm… did I just finally meet a guy who pays attention to detail when it comes to me? Yes, I did.
He really does pay attention to detail. He stepped in, stepped up, and has been helping me raise our (Alex, Kenley, and Lathin) children. Not to mention, I couldn’t ask for better in-laws.
Fast forward about six months down the road, and we moved in together. On our first anniversary date, we went to a A Killer’s Confession concert. Good thing I had had a couple of drinks, because this man had them call us up on stage and propose to me in front of everyone. If that ain’t telling the world you love someone, I don’t know what is.
The time and effort he put into it make my heart happy. Both of our families approved of our decision to spend our lives together. Not to mention, he was the first guy my mom ever approved of, lol.
So here’s to forever! 💍
