What island am I flying into?

Oahu. You will land at Honolulu International Airport.

Do I need a rental car?

We suggest that you get a rental car if you want to travel around the island. If you rent a truck, passengers can ride in the bed of the truck. Yes, it is legal, even on the highways! This is a great option when traveling to a beach or places that have limited parking. There are forms of public transportation on the island; Ubers, taxi, buses, tour buses, shuttles, and the Skyline.

Are there rooms blocked off at a hotel?

Most of our family from the main island are renting an Airbnb or Vrbo. So we will not be blocking hotel rooms off.

Will there be parking at the ceremony/reception?

Yes! But there is a limited number of parking spaces. So we are asking that you carpool with other families.

Should I bring beach chairs and towels?

This is a personal preference. We usually cannot fit those items when we fly, so we rent or buy towels and chairs. A great place to get towels and other beach items is a local Walmart. The Swap Meet is also a great place to find reasonably priced items.

What time is the best to fly into Hawaii?

Personally, I (Mel), likes to leave the mainland early in the morning because when you land in Hawaii, it is mid afternoon. So you still have plenty of daytime left to explore and get settled. From Kansas, it is about a 5 hour time difference.

What is the best city to grab a connecting flight?

Cy and I have connected to a few different cities; Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Oakland. Bigger airports will have more options to eat and grab snacks. Phoenix: bigger airport and about 6-6.5 hours to Hawaii San Diego: TINY airport but 5 hours to Hawaii Oakland: normal sized airport and 5-5.5 hours to Hawaii Las Vegas: normal sized airport and 6-7 hours to Hawaii

What side of the island is the most popular?

The North and the East sides are the most green and where a lot of activities are. Honolulu and Waikiki are to the south and also have fun activities.
