Cynthia and Scott went to brother/sister schools for high school. Eventually their paths crossed through mutual friends when Prom season was approaching. On April 18th, 2016 Scott got the best birthday gift of his life...Cynthia's phone number.
After being 20 minutes late, Cynthia finally met Scott for their first date: dinner at Noodles and Company and a Movie (Cynthia picked the movie and still does 7 years later).
After more dinners, movies, and other dates, Prom was finally here. Scott and Cynthia were on the same page as they got McDonalds before the Prom knowing that the food provided wouldn't match that of a 10 piece McNugget and a Big Mac (if you do the same for our wedding we get it).
Prom ended, but the Endless Summer was just starting for Scott and Cynthia. They didn't want the Endless Summer to come to an end, so they continued to date throughout college.
After many, many ups and downs, Scott finally returned home to Cynthia and they kept that Endless Summer of 2016 going into the 2020s. They became best friends and fell in love.
On March 10th, 2023 Scott brought Cynthia to one of the most romantic restaurants in Chicago: Geja's Cafe. After a breezy walk through Lincoln Park, Scott got down on one knee, reached into his coat pocket, and pulled out a sparkling rock to ask Cynthia a life changing question: "Will you marry me?" He blacked out and could not remember what he said after that, but it must have been good because Cynthia said "YES!" Scott's puppy dog face looking up at her is still engraved in Cynthia's memory.
7 years was a long time to wait, but the wait is over. Scott and Cynthia went through Prom, long distance with college, COVID, career changes, a 6 month academy and so much more together. They are perfectly in love, perfectly matched, and perfectly ready for the rest of their lives together.
