On December 31, 2021, we rang in the New Year in the most unexpected way: by meeting at a wedding. We were both there as guests, and somewhere between the music, the toasts, and the NYE energy in the air, fate decided to introduce us.
I first noticed Adam sitting at a table with his parents and all the other adults, and I couldn’t resist. I jokingly asked if he wanted to come sit with us at the “cool kids table.” It was a simple, silly moment but it turned into the start of something that changed both of our lives. From the very beginning, Adam stood out. Even after only knowing me for a few hours, he genuinely cared about me, who I was, how I was doing, and making sure I felt comfortable. I remember thinking, almost immediately, that he was something special.
I’ll never forget our first official date, either. We were still in the throes of COVID, and Adam unfortunately got COVID shortly after the wedding. When he was feeling better, he asked to take me out to dinner even though he still hadn’t gotten his taste and smell back yet. And somehow, that’s exactly Adam: thoughtful, determined, and fully present. He took me to a fancy new steakhouse, and we had an amazing night. One of our favorite memories from that dinner was when the waitress came over to ask how everything was. Adam just smiled and said, “You’ll have to ask the pretty lady.” It made me laugh then, and it still makes me smile now.
Since that night, there have been countless laughs, conversations that lasted into the wee hours of the morning, and plenty of ups and downs that only made us stronger together. Somewhere along the way, Adam became my best friend and it became very clear that I’d found my soulmate.
We’ll save the mushier stuff for our wedding vows, but we do want to say this: we know we wouldn’t be where we are or who we are without each and every one of you. You’ve all played a meaningful role in our lives, shaping us and supporting us, and we are so grateful to have such incredible love around us as we step into this next chapter.
We cannot wait to celebrate with you and see you all on 10/24/26!
