Gregory and Dafni’s story began in the spring of 2008. Among the lively crowd and traditional sounds of the Winston-Salem Greek Festival, Gregory and Dafni met for the first time while performing in their youth Greek dance group.
Over the years Dafni and Gregory’s lives became intertwined; they were a fixture at church services, attending every Sunday and holiday, eager to see each other. Their bond grew as they supported each other through school, their shared love for their Greek culture, and seamlessly integrated into each other’s families.
When college came, both Dafni and Gregory attended UNC Charlotte. The excitement of university life brought new opportunities and challenges. The demands of college life led them to decide to take a break from their relationship to grow as individuals and explore their own paths. The separation was difficult, but they cherished the memories and lessons from their time together. Each grew in their own way, but the bond they formed never truly faded.
Six years later, fate brought them back together. A chance encounter at a coffee shop rekindled their romance. They quickly fell back into place, reminiscing about their shared past and catching up on the past six years. As they left the coffee shop they both felt the strong urge to never be apart again. They began dating again and their connection resumed as genuine as it had always been.
Within six months of rekindling their relationship, Gregory proposed to Dafni in Cyprus, the country where she had always dreamed of getting married since she was a little girl. The proposal took place outside the very church she envisioned herself as a bride marrying the love of her life.
Their wedding is set for June 29, 2025 in Cyprus. Their story is a testament to the enduring power of love and the beauty of finding and rediscovering your soulmate. From the stage of the Winston-Salem Greek festival to their upcoming celebration in Cyprus, their story celebrates a lasting bond and the excitement of a shared future.
