Dagney's Point of View (Kevin's Recollection):

During my freshman year of college I was interested in majoring in Business. My dad, being an engineer, was disappointed that I didn't give engineering a shot. There was an introduction to engineering class that I had heard was easy, and seemed like a good way to appease my dad's desire for me to explore engineering. I reluctantly signed up for Engineering 100. (I, on the other hand, had tried to sign up every quarter and was excited that I finally got the chance to take such an intriguing class…)

I walked into class on the first day wearing a sweatshirt and yoga pants as any normal college student does for a 9:30 class, not knowing I would be meeting my future husband (I'd like to think I knew as soon as I saw her). Not knowing anyone in the class I sat at the first table I saw an open seat at. The teacher announced that we would be working in groups of 4 for all projects in the class, and that we needed to determine our group immediately. We were sitting at a table of 9 people, with a cute boy (also a cute girl) in the middle of the table who could have joined either group of 4. Realizing this, I immediately motioned towards him and the other three on my side of the table to hopefully get him in our group (to this day I still declare that it was I who initiated the forming of the teams and made sure the cute girl ended up in my group, but it continues to be a topic of dispute). I'd like to think he was thinking the same about me (I was) and that's why he (she) joined our (my) group. Our friendship grew throughout the quarter, from studying for class (she tricked me into doing the large majority of the work in Engineering 100…) to night time walks through campus, and runs around Greenlake (I started wanting to run a lot more around this time…). After a 6-month game of cat and mouse, we made it official on the first day of Sophomore year and haven't looked back since.
