Joel and Damaris officially met in July when Joel moved to Cleveland, but their story goes back much further. Damaris grew up around Joel’s family before they moved to Chicago, so when their paths crossed again, it was God's perfect timing. They started dating in late September, and their connection quickly grew into something special.

Their first date was a simple dinner, but it was the start of something amazing. Over time, their relationship blossomed as they bonded over shared hobbies, spending time with friends, working out together, and serving in church.

Joel proposed on November 2, 2024, at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron, a location that holds a special place in Damaris’s heart because of her time at the University of Akron. On a crisp, beautiful fall day, Joel got down on one knee in the English Garden, surrounded by candles and flower petals. It was a moment they’ll cherish forever.

Now, they’re looking forward to a lifetime together—filled with love, laughter, and endless support as they take on the future hand in hand.
