Damian and Sophie met in June of 2022, when a mutual friend visited Melbourne. They’d both moved away from their home towns of Sydney and Adelaide in the years prior to that, and after some light instagram stalking on both parts, they were excited to finally meet each other in person.

That weekend saw the two enjoy a burlesque version of Shrek, bars and restaurants that they couldn’t afford, and took any chance to continue spending time together, before they had their first date 2 weeks later - although Sophie wasn’t convinced yet that it WAS a date.

In August, Damian asked Sophie to be his girlfriend, and the two have been inseparable ever since. In 2023, their love grew, and they soon moved in together, before going on their first overseas trip to Japan. In June of 2024, they took their second overseas trip together to Africa, where Damian surprised Sophie with a private sleep out under the stars in the South African plains. Here he asked Sophie to marry him. It was both the happiest and the scariest night of her life.
