Dan and Leslie met during the summer of 2020, officially beginning their relationship on July 25, 2020, after a day of floating the Bear River with some of Dan's closest friends.

On March 26, 2022, Dan, Leslie and many of those same friends and some family made the trek to Leslie's hometown of Placerville where Dan proposed at Boeger Winery.
