We met at Christian Student Fellowship at Indiana University in August of 2021. How we ended up there at that place and time was dependent on a lot of circumstances that neither of us could have orchestrated on our own. God led Dan all of the way from China to almost going away to school in Europe only to instead end up in Iowa where he was set on going to Iowa State with his best friends. He ended up changing his mind to attend IU for their business program. I was originally going to go to somewhere in Illinois since it was in state. I was planning to room with my cousin at a school up by Chicago. At the time, my dad and my stepmom along with my two little sisters were planning to move to Indiana for my dad’s job. After lots of prayer, I ended up not going with my cousin and going with my dad to Indiana where I planned to do two years of community college for an associate’s and go from there.
I spent the first year of this time praying for the man of God that I would meet one day. I prayed to be pursued like I should be and that the man God brought me would know how to love me because of the way God loves me.
After living in Indiana for a year, I felt led to leave a year early and attend a university in Indiana. I was stuck between Ball State University and Indiana University. After one visit to IU, I knew that was where I was supposed to be.
Christian Student Fellowship is a Christian campus house at IU. I had no idea it existed until my dad found it. Out of 50,000 students, the house only had about 45-50 people in it. We both managed to find our way there at the same time.
Within one week of meeting, Dan began to pursue me like how I had always prayed for and ever since then I have been head over heels for him. From throwing water balloons at me, to asking me to sit next to him at the movies, to sharing our testimonies, and all the way to Dan asking me to be his wife in California, I remember I thought “This is an absolute fairytale”. I felt I was reliving the Disney movies I used to watch as a kid.
God has used the time we have spent together in such amazing and beautiful ways. We will continue to let Him guide our relationship into marriage and the rest of our lives together.
