The Reception

I remember the very first time I saw Dan. I was leading worship for a young adult service at my church, and from my vantage point on stage, I saw a group of&nbsp;new comers sitting in the front row. One of the men was bald, bearded, and wearing flannel. Can I get an amen? It wasn't love at first sight, but I'll tell ya... I did go a little weak in the knees having that handsome stranger in my line of sight for the evening. Dan has told me since then that he remembers thinking I was pretty cute that night, too.&nbsp;Neither of us&nbsp;could&nbsp;have imagined then that we&nbsp;would eventually strike up a friendship that would lead to the relationship we have today. But Dan and I didn't become friends until months later...

At First Sight

Through various social events with friends from our church, Dan and I started to get to know each other and I developed feelings for the guy. I couldn't get over how quickly he could go from serious to cracking up... those of you who know Dan would probably agree with me that he has the best laugh!&nbsp;Not only was he fun to be around, he also had a heart for helping others that I found charming.&nbsp;Dan started to get more involved in our church and I started seeing him around when we both would happen to volunteer to help with the same ministries. It was after one of these ministry events that I invited Dan on our first date... as "just friends", of course.&nbsp;I had already gone home but really wanted to spend more time with this Dan guy. So&nbsp;I took a risk and asked him over text&nbsp;to go to a midnight showing of Cinderella with me. It seemed like hours as I paced around my house, waiting&nbsp;for him to respond to my text. It was worth the wait. Dan's response was perfect... the entire story of Cinderella written in emoji followed by, "Sure."&nbsp; The actual date was the first of many to follow that were filled with butterflies, so much laughter, and great conversation.&nbsp;

The First Date

This is a quick shout out to God&nbsp;for using Honda as a key element in the success of Dan and my&nbsp;relationship. Not only did Honda play a part in bringing Dan to Columbus for work, it is also where he got connected with the friend who brought him to our church where we met.&nbsp;Honda also successfully&nbsp;researched & tested, designed, and&nbsp;manufactured the 2002&nbsp;Honda Civic that would one day become the death trap I would drive in 2015. It is on this car that Dan spent countless hours during the first two&nbsp;years of our relationship&nbsp;working&nbsp;to ensure that I did not go careening to my death at high speeds (due to many issues the car had that I can no longer remember but which Dan could elaborate on if you are curious). I credit these many hours as the glue that kept us close during those years as we frequently carpooled and spent lots of time in my driveway looking at tubes, and bolts, and engine guts together.Thanks, Dan, for undoubtedly saving my life countless times through the hard work you put into my favorite&nbsp;car, my it rest in peace. And thank you Honda, for bringing us together.&nbsp;

Honda

Dan and I got engaged on February 9th, 2018. Dan had just gotten back the night before&nbsp;from a business trip that he had been on for three weeks.&nbsp;Apparently, Dan had wanted to purpose for some time, but the ring he was having made was taking longer to make than he expected. He got the ring shortly before he left on his business trip. Because he didn't want to propose and then be gone from me for three weeks directly afterwards,&nbsp;he chose to wait until he got back. And yes, I knew all of this information.&nbsp;So that Friday morning when I was driving to pick up my groggy boyfriend to go get breakfast on his first day back, I was a wreck thinking all of the things that girls who expect they may get proposed to&nbsp;would most likely be thinking. When was he going to purpose? How would he do it?&nbsp;Did my outfit look cute enough for pictures? What if I cried? What if I DIDN'T cry? Yeah. I was a mess. Dan was fine. He was sleeping.I got to his place and let myself in. Realizing he was still in bed, I relaxed a little, thinking that he must not have anything planned for the day since he wasn't a nervous wreck like I was and all ready to go for the day. So I&nbsp;sent him a text saying I would be back, just needed to run&nbsp;a quick errand.I ran my errand and then&nbsp;hustled&nbsp;back to his place, hoping he would be up and ready to go get breakfast. I opened the door with my arms full of the items from the afore mentioned errands, and first heard loud&nbsp;music playing. It was OUR&nbsp;song... the one we always go crazy dancing to in cars and&nbsp;at weddings.&nbsp;Then I saw Dan, right inside the doorway, wearing a suit, down on one knee, a ring in his hands, and&nbsp;the biggest smile on his face.&nbsp;He told me loved me&nbsp;and asked me to marry him. I put down my groceries and then I&nbsp;said yes. Then we jumped around like crazy people as we cried, laughed, and&nbsp;danced to Shut Up and Dance.Later he asked if I was surprised.&nbsp;I said that I thought he would propose sometime that weekend but that I wasn't expecting it to be right away!&nbsp;He told me that he had been waiting for three weeks holding onto that ring&nbsp;and he just&nbsp;couldn't wait to ask me any longer.I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!!&nbsp;

This is a great place to hangout with friends while&nbsp;playing games together and&nbsp;enjoying a tasty snack. I would recommend getting a flight of snacks, which includes four&nbsp;shot glasses of your choice of candies, trail mixes, and crackers.&nbsp;The cover charge to play board games is $6 but they will let you apply that to a snack or drink of your choice!&nbsp;This place is also very kid friendly!
