From oblivious, immature 16 year olds, to now mature, thriving 28 year olds- Ryan and I have literally been through it ALL. I never would have imagined, the kid at the high school table in 2009, asking me everyday how my soccer games were while I was just trying to enjoy my daily Pb&j sandwich, would be the guy I get to spend the rest of my life with. From High School, to college, to our first apartment in Elizabeth, to buying our beautiful home, to adopting our handsome furry son, I believe we can conquer ANYTHING, including the fact that a Global Pandemic has forced us to postpone, our long awaited wedding. We have waited 12 years for this day, lets finally do the damn thing!
The official journey toward "The Doughertys" all started on May 15, 2018 when we were in San Diego, California. It was day 3 of our vacation; we were previously in San Francisco for 1.5 days. When we first arrived to San Diego, we immediately fell in love with the city; we settled into our AirBnb, explored around, and then came back to get ready for dinner. Prior to our reservations, we left earlier to get some happy hour drinks and a few appetizers at a bar near the restaurant. Up until this point, Ryan NEVER seemed nervous or threw off any kind of hints. It was not until I ordered my second soft pretzel (everyone knows my love for pretzels), that he started getting antsy because he was adamant about making it to the beach to see the sunset and REFUSED to miss it. Our order took longer than usual, and at one point he even wanted to leave without receiving the order (obviously i did not let that happen LOL soft pretzels > sunsets). Anyway, we finally received our order, paid the check and then began our walk to the beach. We arrived at the beach, and obviously I was holding on to some type of HOPE, that hey this may be it ( i mean it only took the man 10 years at that point). Along the way down to the rocks, I made eye contact with a random woman with a professional camera and a LIGHT went off in my head, like holy shit this may actually be happening. Before I could even blink, we were down on the rocks looking out at the ocean, and he turned me around towards him and was down on one knee. At this point, I completely blacked out, and remember zero of anything, other than answering his question with "NO F****** WAY!" Turns out the photographer I saw, he hired to catch the proposal and then we continued to do a one hour engagement shoot. Ryan absolutely BLEW me away with this proposal and I wish I could relive it every day. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with this amazing man.
