Ty Guy and DD met in August 2019 at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, WA. It wasn't quite love at first site, but a blossoming cross country friendship with casual check-ins and Instagram exchanges ensued.
In fall 2020, through the chaos of lockdowns and travel restrictions, the two reunited when Tyler visited Ontario for his annual Algonquin Park paddle trip. Dana returned the favour with a trip to Banff that October where she won Tyler over by braiding his hair into the perfect Pippy Long Stocking formation.
It took a few months, but by March 2021 Dana had Tyler convinced that a long-distance relationship might not be such a bad idea after all, and the two made it official.
They enjoyed multi week stints in each other's cities and grew to appreciate the contrast between Banff's Rocky Mountain rustic landscape and Toronto's hustle and bustle. After a year of back and forward, Dana made the move to Calgary in June 2022.
In May 2023 the two moved into their first home together in Calgary's Bridgeland neighbourhood. Finally, under one roof, the pair could focus their time on curating the perfect African Cichlid collection and achieving their goal of breaking the record for the most house plants per square foot in all of Western Canada.
In addition to breeding fish and swaddling their sweet bully breed Toula through cold Calgary nights, the two spend their days exploring the mountains with their Bushwacker Plus in tow, going to concerts, trying new craft (NA) beers, travelling to new places, cooking for friends and family, and playing crib with over 200 games tracked to date!
On October 5th 2023 Tyler and Dana went spelunking in the nature preserve of Natural Bridge Caverns in San Antonio Texas. 180 ft underground and surrounded by his favourite things stalagmites, columns, and DD; Tyler popped the question.
The two are so grateful for your love and friendship and cannot wait to celebrate their marriage with you!
