This wonderful true love story began on a tiny little iPhone in May 2023 when Dana clicked like to Cody’s dating profile – and not by accident, much to Cody’s amazement. They say opposites attract – and Dana is a 5’1” elementary school teacher who loves the beach and going to Disney World while Cody is a 6’2” risk management specialist who loves sports and his golden retriever, Kya.

With Dana near Philadelphia and Cody near Harrisburg, their first date was at an ice cream shop in Lancaster. They met halfway for many of the early dates, then rotated between driving to each other’s places. The distance was tough for both of them, but seeing each other every weekend made it worth it.

Along the way, Cody taught Dana how to scratch that sweet spot behind Kya’s ears and when you should go for fourth down while Dana taught Cody that Costco has everything and how to use a laundry basket. They bonded over bike rides, coffee dates, movies, card games, and watching Everybody Loves Raymond. They assimilated well with one another’s families, attended the other’s church, and read pre-engagement dating books.

After 10 months of dating, Cody proposed on the beach on a cold day in Ocean City, New Jersey. They bought a house together in June (with a fenced-in backyard for Kya!). A glimpse at the future sees many evenings with Cody analyzing sports statistics and throwing the ball for Kya while Dana grades papers and falls asleep watching The Bachelor.
