The year was 2020. I know, oof. Dani and Jacob were living their own separate lives, navigating a pandemic and the throws of their 20s, connected by one person, Ashley Goodijohn.

Ashley had been trying to set us up for months. I, Dani, had been brushing her off. “No, no! I’m not interested.” But boy, she persisted. One night, I was out with some friends when she texted to say she and Jacob were going to meet us out. I thought, “fiiiiiiiiine, I’ll appease you”. I approached Jacob and was pleasantly surprised by how attractive he was compared to his Facebook photo circa 2014. I fired away asking all the wrong questions, because remember, I didn’t care how this setup panned out. Jacob says my brash round of 20 questions was quite a surprise, but hey he had the right answers

In all seriousness, we both knew that first night that this was forever. You know, it’s something you always hear about, but you just kind of think it’s silly until you’re in it.
