There is no official wedding hotel or room block, so we offer some insight below for your stay in Miami.
Our top recommendation would be a hotel in Coconut Grove as the neighborhood is highly walkable and offers ample shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Otherwise, you might consider Coral Gables or Brickell. All of these areas are nearby our wedding festivities.
If you stay elsewhere, such as on Miami Beach, please keep traffic in mind as it can be extremely heavy on weekends (sometimes including DUI/police checkpoints).
We do not recommend staying in Downtown Miami (across the Miami River bridge from Brickell) or in the Design District/Wynwood due to safety concerns.
Upscale, stunning hotel in the Grove's best location, CocoWalk
($$$)
High-end hotel with ocean views along the main street of Coconut Grove
($$$$)
Also on the main street of the Grove offering some apartment-style rooms ($$$)
Budget-friendly option on the main street of Coconut Grove
($$)
Budget-friendly option approximately 10 minutes' walking distance to central Coconut Grove/CocoWalk
($$)
High-end hotel approximately 5 minutes' walking distance to central Coconut Grove
($$$$)
Note that this hotel is essentially not walkable to central Coconut Grove/CocoWalk, but is a no-frills budget option in the area adjacent to a 6-lane highway. We would advise guests to exercise caution in this particular area during the evening hours.
Note that this brand new hotel is less walkable to downtown Coral Gables than the Colonnade and the Hyatt Regency.
Miami International Airport (MIA) is the closest and most convenient option, located approximately 15-20 minutes' driving distance from Coconut Grove and Brickell
We highly recommend flying through MIA and suggest checking flights on American Airlines, which is based in Miami
Ubers/Lyfts to and from MIA are typically in the range of $20 each way
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is approximately 45 minutes' driving distance to Miami, but this varies dramatically depending on the time of day and traffic
Ubers/Lyfts to and from FLL are typically in the range of $50 each way
We generally do not opt to fly through FLL if avoidable due to the distance from Miami (and because the airport itself is inferior to MIA), but some low-cost airlines only operate through FLL
Since the car ride from PBI to Miami is around 1.5-2 hours, we do not recommend PBI whatsoever but wanted to make you aware of it.
