Our Wedding

Dan and Emily met officially on July 6th of 2024 where they were both in the bridal party of mutual friends. Emily has been friends with the couple since early high school and Dan was in the Army with the groom. [Dan]: A couple days before the wedding, at a 4th of July party, Bonnie and Patrick pulled Dan aside and told Dan that he should talk to Emily. He said "maybe," being skeptical since he lived in Pennsylvania and Emily lived in Texas. After pointing her out the next day at the rehearsal, he remained unsure. The next day when the bridal party was lined up outside to make their entrance at the rehearsal, Dan made a joke, turned around and made eye contact with Emily and she smiled, and then it was game over. He then proceeded to her follow her around all night trying to get her attention, asking her to dance, and made an overall fool of himself while wearing a plastic stars and stripes cowboy hat. [Emily]: Emily first heard about Dan a few days before the wedding when his last name was brought up a couple times. She checked out the wedding website a few times to see who this Gillespie guy was but didn't really find anything conclusive. Throughout the entirety of the wedding day, the bridesmaids were doing their best to set her up with one of the groomsmen. They didn't have to work too hard because Dan had that covered. After asking her to dance, she hesitantly said yes which only seemed to open the door for her to be followed around by him the rest of the night. He finally asked for Emily's number by the end of the night and she said yes. Following the wedding, they continued texting back and forth until she told him that she was flying up to Pennsylvania in August to "conveniently see some friends" which was really just an excuse to see him so they could go on their first date. Dan was still nervous about everything and carried some doubts about whether or not it would work long distance up until he came and picked her up and then all of those concerns went out the door once he saw her. On August 15th, they went on their first date to a Phillies baseball game, bonding over their mutual love of baseball. The next night they went on a second date before they both went out of town and it was as they were sitting there across the booth from each other at a local tavern that Dan started to fall in love with her. A few days later, Emily was already trying to plan her next trip up to see him. They made it official on September 12th, 2024 and continued to fly back and forth to visit each other until he proposed on June 23rd, 2025. Emily said yes and now it's history. They are each other's best friend, completely in love with each other (although they disagree over whether the Astros or the Phillies are a better team), and are so excited to begin the rest of their lives together.

Craving some good authentic southern barbecue? Tejas Barbecue is the place to get it. At one point it was voted one of the top barbecue restaurants in Texas! Dan and I go here at least once every time he's in town!

The sister location to Tejas Chocolate and Barbecue! It is located right off main street and around the corner from Tejas Barbecue. They have some of the best burgers and milkshakes in town. Also a favorite spot of mine and Dan's!
