Their Story dates back to their freshman year of college in 2019. While Daniel studied at Davenport in Computer Information Systems living on campus, Skylar commuted to Grand Rapids Community College trying to figure out her life.
Now to give you the full backstory, Daniel & Skylar grew up together all the way from elementary school to high school only being acquaintances. Dan knew of Skylar as the popular girl in school and Skylar knew him as the band nerd who was also on the swim team. The only time Skylar has ever said a word to him according to Dan himself, was junior year of high school in their economics class. Skylar always demanded Dan to give her all of the homework answers the day of when it was due and this continued throughout the whole semester. Skylar on the other hand doesn’t remember this occurrence but oddly enough she did pass the class with an A.
Fast forward back to their freshman year of college. Skylar’s childhood best friend Chloe had the grand idea to try to set her up with another potential candidate on her list to possibly end up being Skylar’s boyfriend. Skylar swears that Chloe loves to play matchmaker. As always Skylar went along with Chloe’s crazy idea, wondering who she was trying to pair her up with this time. Once Chloe responded with “You should try talking to Daniel Zuiderveen!” Skylar couldn’t believe that was the name that came out of her mouth. At first, Skylar was like no way but thought why not give it a shot? Once Chloe got the green light, Chloe proceeded to give Skylar his snapchat but was still a bit hesitant with the whole idea. After a few days of having Dan’s snapchat, Skylar finally initiated the first snap, and it led to the start of something great.
After snapchatting for a couple of months, along with the occasional Qdoba dates, late nights at the movies, and many hangouts at Dan’s dorm with their lovely third wheel Mitchell, Daniel finally asked Skylar to be his girlfriend.
As the years went by and almost have been together for 6 years, everything changed on September 12th, 2024. It will always be a moment they both will never forget, the day Daniel got down on one knee and asked Skylar to marry him.
They’re beyond excited to continue their love story and to finally take it to the next step, marriage.
