Sam Houston National Forest is an outdoor-lovers paradise! Nature enthusiasts enjoy fishing, hiking, and bird watching year-round. A portion of the award-winning 128-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail weaves its way through the Forest, offering hikers everything from a dayhike to extended overnight treks. Shortleaf and Loblolly pines reach to the sky at Little Lake Creek Wilderness Area and along Stubblefield Lake Interpretive Trail. Sam Houston National Forest

Clusters of endangered Red Cockaded Woodpeckers find sanctuary in these 1,733 wooded acres southwest of Conroe. The area is favorite for birders. The Texas Forest Service continues to develop ways to better preserve the natural environment by utilizing W. Goodrich Jones State Forest as a "demonstration forest." Sweetleaf Nature Trail, picnic tables, horseback riding and fishing make this forest a perfect day-use destination. We are a multi generational family that has dedicated our lives to elephants in human care for the past fifty years. Since 1980 we have been providing elephant, camel rides and educational programs at renaissance festivals throughout the United States. We have participated in breeding programs and studies to help better elephants in human care. Donated to nonprofit organizations from ride proceeds that contribute to conservation and the growing human elephant conflicts in their range countries.
