While in the Old City of Zadar you will find many tours providing day trips to Sakarun Beach and/or the Kornati Islands where you will enjoy a boat ride around the Zadar archipelago; making stops to enjoy numerous beaches to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters.
Right on the waterfront of the old city of Zadar is the Greetings to the Sun & Sea Organ installations. Solar panels collect the energy from the sun during the day and create a light show after the sun sets. The Sea Organ, which is located right next to the light show, creates underground music through the movements of the waves.
Both of these places are worth visiting both during the day and during the sunset!
When we go to the beach in Zadar, Beach Bar Bamboo is one of our favorite spots! The bar itself has coffee, cocktails, beer, ice cream, and sandwiches, while the beach area has bean bags, beach chairs, etc. to relax and tan. The sunset from Bamboo is absolutely stunning and the sea is very clear here!
Just don't forget your water shoes as there are rocks and sea urchins can be found here!
Nin is the oldest city in Croatia dating back 3,000 years! It's also where Daniela's mom's family is from. You will find the smallest church in the world, the Church of the Holy Cross, sandy beaches, family owned restaurants, and other historic sights.
Fun fact: Daniela won third place in the karaoke contest in the Porat, the town's bar.
Queen's Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Croatia! It's located in Nin, Croatia about 9 miles from Zadar.
Queen's Beach is a sandy beach (so no water shoes needed) that has a view of the Velebit Mountains, warm sea water, and medical mud which helps with joint and bone issues.
Well worth the visit!
Beautiful winery that is over 800 years old and overlooks the beautiful Adriatic Sea. Our favorite wine to drink there is Plavac Mali! Definitely a must-try and we recommend making a reservation beforehand!
One of the symbols of the city of Zadar are the barkajoli which since the 14th century have been connecting the two shores of the city port by small rowboats in all weather. The boat ride only takes a few minutes and can cut down a walk to the Zadar peninsula by 15 minutes. For a price of €1 and operating from 7am-Midnight, taking a ride from the barkajoli is a cheap, efficient and fun way to get around.
Krka National Park is situated along the Krka River in southern Croatia. It's known for a series of 7 waterfalls. In the south, Skradinski Buk waterfall is flanked by traditional watermills. To the north, a nature trail passes another striking cascade, Roški Slap, and the Krka Monastery, built above ancient Roman catacombs. Visovac Island is home to the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy.
