Food Tour of the North of Israel

On Wednesday, May 17th, you're invited to join us for a guided tour. The tour will visit a Druze village where guests will enjoy a cooking class and meal, followed by a visit to the ancient port city of Akko.


Details - including timing - will be sent out to those who sign up at the link below. The tour will end with plenty of time for you to relax and enjoy your evening. Transportation will depart from and return to Tel Aviv.


Space is limited - the first 18 guests to sign up will be assured a spot.

Coffee + Bakeries

1. WayCup Coffee – incredible coffee, two locations in south and central Tel Aviv.

2. Cafelix – our favorite coffee in Tel Aviv, with branches in south and central Tel Aviv.

3. Mae Café – another option for high quality coffee.

4. Eats Café – great spot for coffee and quick, casual breakfast, outdoor garden seating. Attached to Beit Hana, a great yoga/pilates studio.

5. Bakery – perfect for grabbing a quick bite and great coffee.

6. Dallal bakery–the bakery is great for a morning coffee and pastry.

Brunch/Big Breakfast

1. Beit Kandinoff – cool Israeli food and great artistic restaurant and bar in Old Jaffa.

2. Dallal Restaurant – a lovely French restaurant at the bottom of Shabazi street.

3. Bicelletta – for tapas style food, great eggplant fries.

4. Bucke – a great café for coffee or brunch, two locations in Tel Aviv.

5. Delicatessen – same owners as “Bakery,” great food, locally sourced.

Street Food

1. Mutfak – hole in the wall shawarma joint. Best in Tel Aviv!

2. Abu Hasan – amazing humus joint in Jaffa. Hummus is made fresh every morning and they close as soon as they run out – usually by around 1pm.

3. Jasmino – hole in the wall kebab-in-pita joint. Best in Tel Aviv!

4. Sabich Tchernichovsky – one of the best in the city.

5. Sabich Frishman – the other one of the best in the city.

6. M25 – super good meat restaurant in Shuk HaCarmel.

Casual Lunch/Dinner

1. Puaa – fun, family-friendly local restaurant in the Jaffa Flea Market.

2. Manta Ray – a fantastic fish restaurant overlooking the beach

3. Old Man by the Sea – a fish restaurant in Jaffa Port for a fun experience.

4. Café Noir – considered by many to have the best Schnitzel in Tel Aviv.

5. HaAchim – vibrant, fun, super popular Israeli café/restaurant

Bars/Restaurants

1. Herzl 16 –Israeli/Asian fusion cafe/bar/restaurant with a relaxed vibe, some fun music and a beautiful inner courtyard.

2. Beit Romano – Great food, and cool atmosphere! The bar in the downstairs courtyard, Teder, is also very fun and popular on weekends and has freshly-made pizzas.

3. Shaffa Bar, Cuckoo’s Nest and Onza – three fun places in the Jaffa Flea Market with great atmosphere and drinks. These places will be extra full on weekends, especially Friday and Saturday afternoons.

4. The Prince – a rooftop bar/restaurant on Nachlat Binyamin, right across from Arte Gelateria, our favorite ice cream spot.

5. Port Said – celebrity chef Eyal Shani’s popular bar/restaurant.

High End Restaurants*

1. Popina – beautiful restaurant on Shabazi street if you are looking for a special meal.

2. Opa –an experiential Vegan restaurant that is worth a visit for something unique.

3. Santa Katarina – fun, Israeli atmosphere with locally sourced food. Next door to Port Said bar.

4. Dok – great Israeli food, very popular restaurant, across from HaAchim.

5. North Abraxas – celebrity chef Eyal Shani’s amazing food. On Wednesday’s the space turns into a party.

6. Sheila – a high-end restaurant for fish lovers. Their raw fish dishes are the best.

7. Claro – a beautiful restaurant for a special occasion in the Sarona Market.

**Israel tends to be very casual! Don’t worry about dressing up too much, even at high end restaurants.

Ice Cream/Dessert

1. Buza – great gelato! Less beautiful location. Near Sarona market.

2. Anita – on Neve Tzedek’s Shabazi Street, neighborhood favorite. Their franchise locations around the city are called “Golda.”

3. Otello – local popular gelato spot.

4. Arte Glideria – our favorite! A true Italian gelateria on Nahlat Binyamin street with an amazing variety of unique flavors.

5. Tamara – great for frozen yogurts and refreshing ice-pops.

6. Yafa Knafe – a popular spot for a delicious, traditional Arab dessert.

7. HaMalabia - a local chain serving fresh malabi, a delicious middle-eastern dessert similar to panna cotta.

Recommended Activities

1. Tel Aviv Art Museum

2. Walks through popular neighborhoods, parks and sites: the Jaffa Flea Market, Shuk HaCarmel, Rothschild Boulevard, Bialik Square, Independence Park, Charles Clore Park, Park Hayarkon and the Tel Aviv Port

3. Dance, yoga, meditation, pilates and other classes at Studio Naim – they have locations throughout the city.

4. Beit Hana - another great yoga/pilates studio on beautiful Ben Gurion Boulevard.

5. Dance performances at Suzanne Dallal

6. Ilana Goor Museum – a very unusual collection in the home of the artist and collector Ilana Goor. The rooftop garden has beautiful views of the water.

7. The beach! Beaches will be full on weekends and otherwise relatively quiet. You can rent chairs and umbrellas on-site at the beach.
