The Saint Nicholas Fortress, now a UNESCO world heritage site is located in the channel near Sibenik. The surrounding area around the fortress are World War II bunkers but the fortress dates back to the 1500s.
It can be accessed via boat through a tour from the Sibenik Riva. The link is here: https://shop.kanal-svetog-ante.com/en.
An alternative option is to walk to the fortress. It is about a 1 mile walk from Zablace and then a short walk over small wood bridges to the fortress.
Plitvice Lakes is about a 2 hour drive from Sibenik. It is the oldest and largest national park in Croatia. About a 1 hour hike with a sequence of turquoise lakes leading into a waterfall. Along the drive we recommend stopping for some honey as many people in the area are beekeepers.
Kornati is made up of 80+ islands. There are many boats that depart from the Sibenik or Zablace port to Kornati. You can explore the fortress, stop off on the islands and enjoy a Dalmatian lunch! It is something we try to do every trip we make to Croatia! There are many boat tours however we have used and recommend using archipelago tours.

Baraka winery is a small family owned winery in the area that offers tastings. They offer a variety of wines that are local in the area. Many hotels offer transportation to this winery in the Šibenik area. (Make sure to try the anima!)
Dubrovnik is about a 3 and a half hour drive from Sibenik. There is a bus that runs from Sibenik to Dubrovnik. Link attached here: https://getbybus.com/en-us/sibenik-dubrovnik. The city is known for its old town and red tiled roofs. Dubrovnik has gained much attention after becoming a primary filming location for Kings Landing in Game of Thrones. Dubrovnik is in the South of Croatia and is definitely worth a visit. We also recommend taking a short boat ride to the island of Lokrum for the day. Or cool off with a cocktail and stop by Buza Bar, a cliffside bar on the edge of the city.
There are multiple boat rentals in the area.
Archipelago tours offers boat tours to Kornati islands for 10 people at the cost of 800 euros.

Šetnica is about a 5 mile serene walk where you can view the Sibenik canal, the famous St Nikola fortress and a view of the city of Sibenik.
A town that is about a 25 minute drive from Sibenik city.A beach lined by rainbow cabanas, but our favorite part is the donuts. There is a bakery on the beach that has delicious chocolate/vanilla donuts. Daniel and I then go to the bar next door to order champagne. Enjoy a swim, donuts and of course some champagne!
Zlarin is an island across the way from Solaris/ Zablace. A small island with no cars (only golf carts) that is famous for 2 things - the inventor of the Maglite (Daniel’s favorite fun fact) and coral jewelry (Daniela’s favorite)! Only accessible by boat there is the option to take a taxi boat or to include this in a boat rental day. If you do visit Zlarin make sure to ask your skipper to stop in the uvala for some swimming!
The farmers market is Monday-Saturday and you can buy anything from fresh figs, roasted chicken, and of course fresh fish!
