Our Story

How it started - December 27th 2020

It all started when Peter was visiting a friend (his eventual best man, Sam) out in Salt Lake City. On this trip he decided he'd move to Salt Lake City, but first wanted to check out the dating scene. Peter hopped on the app Hinge and surveyed the SLC dating market for cute non-Mormon girls. When he came across Dani's page, the first thought was "wow - she's beautiful", followed by "wow - she's a Buckeye!".

It didn't take long to notice all of the small-world connections that we shared...little did we know the 3 years we were at Ohio State, where we were likely at the same date parties (thanks to our partnering sorority and fraternity), game-day blocks, and even had some of the same friends! It just took time, 2,000 miles, and online dating to get us talking.

After just a few messages back and forth, Dani realized that Peter hadn't moved to Salt Lake yet and would be in Chicago for 8 more months....

So, the two hopeless romantics made light suggestion for a coffee date 8 months down the line and exchanged numbers, thinking their story had come to a close. If not for Peter, who made plenty of efforts to keep the connection going through texts and social media, they kept up with one another for a few months.

How it continued - April 11th 2021

Dani had went skydiving, which prompted some courage to give Peter an out-of-the-blue FaceTime on a Sunday evening. Luckily, he answered. Soon after their 30 minute call where they first met "face-to-face", they began spending hours every week talking on the phone and getting to know each other better.. "face-to-face".

After embarking on a cross-country road trip from Salt Lake City to Chicago (with some stops along the way), they finally met in person! They met for lunch at a taco spot down the street from Peter’s Chicago apartment - marking their first official date (and Peter’s first time meeting June Bug). Throughout the weekend, Peter and Dani explored Chicago and quickly knew this was something special. Enjoy their awkward “first photo” at the Chicago Art Fest (all thanks to Dani’s friends Taylor and Maggie for sneaking a shot). On June 13th, they said “see you in 6 weeks!” and awaited when they would be living in the same city on August 1st.

Together in Salt Lake - August 1st 2021

Peter made the official move to Salt Lake, and the true adventure began. Over the years, Peter and Dani bonded over their love for the outdoors, food, and people. From skiing, camping, finding their favorite restaurants, traveling, and spending time with their favorite people, Peter and Dani's relationship grew into a life they started to share together. There are too many highlights to begin to name just a few, but the photos will give you an idea.

When she said YES - March 17th 2023

Peter and Dani were traveling through Italy - a trip they had planned almost a year in advance. The began wandering the skinny streets of Venice, ventured up to the Dolomites to ski, made their way to Bologna and Florence, and finally, halfway through their trip, they made it to Tuscany.

They stayed at Savernano, a Family Winery and Bed and Breakfast where Peters parents, aunts and uncles had stayed years before. When they arrived, they were greeted by rows of grapes, and a property all to themselves - perks of traveling in the off season! After making their way up to the room and settling in, they were given a tour of the home and winery. They ended the tour looking out on the property during sunset, and as they went to take a photo to capture the moment, Peter got down on a knee and asked Dani to marry him - in which she replied: OF COURSE!

The moments after consisted of laughing, crying, popping open their first bottle of wine from the vineyard, and being greeted by the family donkeys. They relished in the sweet, life-changing moment, and began to dream about celebrating with their loved ones.
