Danielle and Jose (Joey) met on May 5, 2017 in Oshkosh, WI. Danielle was going to a concert on UWO's campus. She went with her friend, Hailey, to a friend's house to pregame beforehand. Joey had been living there at the time with his dog, Duchess. When he came home from work that day, Danielle immediately thought he was handsome and wanted to get to know him. They hit it off, continued to talk, and spent time together.

They made their relationship official on July 23, 2017 at Gilbert Lake, WI while visiting Danielle's family for the weekend. A place Danielle and her family hold dear to their hearts.

Danielle and Joey would continue to deepen their connection by taking trips and going on adventures annually.

In December of 2018, they went to Las Vegas to experience the Sin City and visit their friend Jieun.

In April of 2019, they traveled to Playa del Carmen, Mexico with Danielle's family to celebrate her father's birthday.

August of 2020, when travel was restricted due to COVID, they took a road trip to northern Wisconsin (Cornucopia) to visit national parks with their dog, Duchess.

In 2021, Danielle and Joey took two trips. In April, they drove down to Texas to see if it would be a good place to live. They stayed with Joey's cousins: Ester, Danny, and Reuben. Later, in September, they went on a road trip to the Smoky Mountains, where Duchess had the opportunity to encounter an elk up close. They extended their journey south to Florida, allowing Duchess to experience the ocean, and made a stop in Alabama to visit Joey's aunt, Olivia.

Additionally, in July of 2022, they celebrated Danielle's childhood friend, Belle's birthday in Nashville, TN.

Lastly, Joey and Danielle went to Hawaii last summer to visit his cousin Chico, his wife Tiffany, and their two daughters. On the last day of the trip, Joey proposed at the top of a mountain after an hour hike on the Napali Coast on July 16, 2023.
