147 Days To Go!

Our story...or should I say novel

The one thing we love about them is their story. Most couples dont go as far back as they do, its definitely a rarity. Paul and Danielle have known each other since Danielle was born. It goes all the way back to their dads. Bert and Paul Sr met each other in 1978 at Robby Road Park, for all the OG Little Ferrians reading this, they know what we are talking about. When they became friends, we can assure you that they had no idea 47 years later they would be becoming in-laws.

NFast Forward to the 1990s. Their parents get married. Paul Sr was lucky enough to have the wonderful role of being a groomsman in Bert & Janets wedding and Linda was also in attendance. The bond and memories between their families were already growing and nobody had any idea.

This then brings us to August 1992--Along came Paul JR. Bert and Janet both went to the hospital to see him after he was born. Literally knowing their daughters future husband since the day he was born. Danielle was born a year and two months later and that is when the story really starts.

As Paul and Danielle grew up, especially being the oldest of the siblings they were the first ones out of any of them to get pulled into this wild, clearly biological, love for the New York Jets. Their dads had season tickets together, and once they were old enough, they started bringing Paul and Danielle along with them. They spent a good amount of time at the stadium growing up--Paul even remembers Danielle showing up to games after she had a town football game where she cheered, and would show up in my LF Devils uniform. After a while once there were more kids than just Paul and Danielle and both families grew, their dads moved on from the season tickets. Besides just games, Paul and Danielle were at each others birthday parties and family gatherings growing up. Even just a Sunday where their families would get together to watch the Jets together. That went on until they were about 8 and 7 when The Palladinos moved from Saddle Brook to Millstone.

Over the years Paul and Danielle didnt keep in touch. Paul is not a big social media person, so it isnt like him and Danielle had anyway to keep/get in touch with each other. Every year the DEspositos would get The Palladinos Christmas card and it would go up on Danielles parents the door with the rest of them. More times than once Janet pointed to Paul and would ask her Hm, what about Paul, Danielle?. She would get very defensive and say WHAT ABOUT HIM?. Clearly she did not have the personality that she has now back then. If she did, maybe they would have started dating a long time ago.

Over the years there was still no contact with Paul...until September 19th, 2021....

Then New York Jets had their home opener coming up and Danielle came up with the idea to get the whole OG NYJ DEsposito/Palladino crew back together for a game. She reached out to Paul Sr asking if they were going and that if they were we should do a big tailgate together. They confirmed we were all going to go and it was all set. The day of the game Danielle didnt really talk to Paul during the tailgate. They took a few pictures with the group of kids and their dads but we werent really talking. By halftime the Jets were getting beat (of course) and they went back to the car to tailgate instead. Paul and Nick got back to the car the same time as Danielle because they also couldnt take watching the game. That was when Paul and Danielle actually started talking and she remembers thinking...hes so tall and cute. Paul then decided to play keep away with her best friends, who had come with me, sunglasses. She was then thinking to myself Is Paul flirting with my friend... and more importantly.... I CARE...WEIRD. They continued to talk throughout the rest of the day and then went their separate ways.

Within the few days after Danielle had texted Paul Sr to ask if they always go to games and if they did maybe they can continue to tailgate together. He responded with I will give you my sons number. All Danielle was thinking was I hope he is giving me Pauls number. Not long after that she got a text from Paul and we coordinated another tailgate and game. That game was The New York Jets vs. The Tennessee Titans. The Jets won, Zach Wilson had a phenomenal game, and that was the day Paul & Danielle began. From that day forward she had to try her absolute hardest to not call him PJ but graduate to calling him Paul. (It took her about 2 months to kick that habit). They now have season tickets together with their brothers just like their dads before them. The tradition lives on.

From that day forward they knew they both had their best friend and rock by their side. They are so happy and grateful that they found each other. Their story is definitely not your common love story, and thats why they love it so much. They are beyond excited to go down this new path of life together and be stronger than ever. They dont know who I should thank for this...their dads for being so close and staying close, the New York Jets even though they hurt them a decent amount technically they brought them back together, or fate. They think it would have to be all three.
