Our Wedding

Our Story:&nbsp; In 2011, just outside of Boston, MA,&nbsp;David Lasher and Danielle Miller were bumping shoulders in a basement frat party at Brandeis University. We had no idea we’d be getting married in California 12 years later.&nbsp; We weren’t exactly friends in college. We had a lot of friends in common, but there was no “keeping up” with one another. We weren’t Facebook friends, and we didn’t follow eachother on Instagram. Not even LinkedIn connected. So David was stunned and speechless when Danielle recognized him almost 10 years later. “Lasher?!” Danielle called out to David immediately upon seeing him. We were at Kara’s wedding in Ventura, CA on November 13, 2021. Kara’s brother Nick Mead (Brandeis ’13) was our mutual connection: he was David’s childhood friend, and was great friends with Danielle in college.&nbsp; We were seated next to one another at dinner, and immediately hit it off that night. Since we didn’t really know each other in college, this was a chance to get to know someone new. We chatted about our friends in common, reminisced about college, and filled in the gaps from the past 10 years.We talked. We danced. We made faces in front of the photo booth. Our attraction was noticeable.&nbsp; We spent the evening celebrating love. It’s hard not to fall in love, when love is in the air.&nbsp; And then, the next day, Danielle flew back to New York. “Don’t be a stranger” quickly turned into “Come spend New Years with me in California,” and David convinced&nbsp;Danielle to hop on a plane and fly across the country. What kind of girl gets on a plane for a guy she barely knows? Part of her may have had a feeling she wanted to explore. Part of her might have been convinced by a few mutual friends who vouched for David’s character.&nbsp; Danielle packed a bag and flew west for a 2 week trip.&nbsp; She met some of David’s friends on New Year’s Eve when David’s friend Spencer hosted a few friends at the McGrath Ranch. The same location we’ll be getting married in June.&nbsp; Those two weeks came and went in a flash. We laughed, we cried. David said “I want you to meet my grandmother.” That’s when Danielle knew David was falling in love. This was serious. There was something here.&nbsp; Danielle was California dreaming, she didn’t want to go home. She extended her trip. One more week. One more week. The 2 week vacation turned into living with each other for 6 weeks. Eventually work came calling, and Danielle flew back to New York. But this time something was different. Her heart was in California.&nbsp; David visited Danielle in New York, and Danielle visited David in California. Until Danielle decided to make one of these CA trips a one-way flight.&nbsp; It wasn’t long before David and Danielle moved into an apartment together in San Francisco.&nbsp; They live next to David’s sister Nathalie and her husband Drew. Danielle gets to be a dog-aunt to their golden retriever Ellie, who is perfect.&nbsp; Danielle enjoys trying new recipes in the kitchen they have been slowly upgrading, David enjoys cutting Danielle’s vegetables and testing her new recipes.&nbsp; We love game nights, tv show marathons (currently watching House, since we finished Suits), visiting Ventura any chance we get and going on walks. We love a good beach day and day trips to get out of the SF fog. One beautiful weekend in 2023, David and Danielle drove over the Golden Gate Bridge and spent some time in the north bay. They shopped, they ate. It was shaping up to be wonderful quality time and a beautiful, sunny day. Then, under the guise of “testing out e-bikes”, they stopped in Marin. Her first time on an e-bike Danielle was picking it up naturally, and was having a blast doing laps around a shaded complex right off the bike path, along the water&nbsp;near the ferry terminal.&nbsp; David was sweating, palming the ring in his pocket, thinking about how he was going to propose to the love of his life. “Will you marry me?” David asks Danielle before he knows it, looking up at her with one knee on the ground. He had caught her off guard, while she was distracted.&nbsp; “Are you kidding me?” Danielle responds, incredulously. For a woman who loves knowing what’s going to happen, she had no idea this was coming.&nbsp; Looking out over the water, they talked about a life together — their life together. How it started, how it was going, where they wanted to go next. She said yes. And then immediately went into wedding planning mode. If we’re throwing a party, it’s going to be a good one. And we’re throwing a party. We’re excited to celebrate our marriage with our friends and family on June 22, 2024, at the McGrath Ranch in Ventura California. The same place David and Danielle spent their first New Years together in 2021.
