My usual 4th of Julys were spent up north for a long weekend with friends, but in 2019 I had to work every day except the actual 4th. I decided that I would spend the day with my dad on his boat, get a nice tan, enjoy the fireworks, and drive to work the next morning. We had a group of people from the marina that we usually hung out with, but this time, a new boat showed up with people I had never met. I immediately noticed Matt, and he noticed me. As the day went on, Matt gained a little liquid courage, and his raft “came untied and he floated right into me”. We started talking and he eventually invited me over to the boat he was on and introduced me to his friends. We ended up spending the rest of the day together and watching the fireworks. It felt like I had known them way longer than a few hours, and I just knew there was something special with Matt. We ended up hanging out every weekend after, and spending more and more time together, and he finally asked me to be his girlfriend at raft off. Now here we are, planning a wedding and the rest of our lives together ❤️
