Michael and Danielle met in the spring of 2013 at Fresno State as sophomores. Immediately after Danielle joined Delta Gamma, her sorority sisters introduced her to Michael Melkonian, an outgoing Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) brother. AGR became one of Danielle’s favorite fraternities to visit. Shortly after meeting each other, Michael asked Danielle to his fraternity’s formal. Not knowing him very well or “Greek Life”, she hesitantly accepted his invitation with encouragement from her sorority sisters. They became good friends in college and their friendship continued post-graduation, though not seeing each other as often as they did during their time at Fresno State.

In December of 2017, Danielle had a company Christmas party where she asked her good friend, "Melko" to accompany her. Holding his own and socializing with her boss, Danielle started seeing Michael in a different light that night.

Fast forward to September of 2018 where Michael invited Danielle to the Fresno State football season opener. He saved her a ticket and invited her to his tailgate. That night Michael told Danielle's roommate, Lauren Lewis, that he had feelings for Danielle and wanted to take her on a date. With support from Lauren, Danielle accepted the date. Michael took Danielle to Yosemite Ranch in October of 2018. But it was after their third date to a taco truck in his hometown of Sanger that solidified their romantic feelings for one another, and the rest was history!
