Fast forward a year and a now single Danielle was working at the City of Vancouver preparing for the 2022 Municipal Election. When her boss realized she had gone 13 weeks without a day off, Danielle was ordered to take the weekend off to recharge before the election madness.

And so on Thursday, Danielle reached out to Mallory and asked about a quick weekend trip to the island. Mal immediately said yes but also shared she had to work on Friday evening and suggested Danielle find someone to hang out while Mal was at the clinic. After texting four other people, Danielle finally remembered Kevin lived in Victoria and asked him if he wanted to get a coffee. He replied with how do you feel about dinner and drinks?

Now having already learnt Kevin thought she was hot and seeing this as a level up from previous hangs, Danielle thought there was a good chance he was asking her out on a date. But she also didn’t want to be a weirdo and ask him hey is this a date? So, she showed up at Tora Tiki trying to figured out if this was or wasn’t a date.

Turns out it wasn’t a date - Kevin just suggested drinks to celebrate her long awaited move back to B.C. However, Kevin is also a natural flirty person, so Danielle proceeded to mistakenly think they were on a date for the entire evening. Kevin meanwhile was spending the entire evening trying to figure out how Danielle was so drunk from just one drink because she kept touching his leg and worrying about how to get her home safely.

It took Kevin five hours and many drinks to realize it was a date. Thankfully, Kevin redeemed himself by coming to Vancouver the following weekend despite the fact Danielle had to work both weekend days. They had their first date (or at least the first date they both knew was a date) at Kits Beach that weekend.

Just a few weeks after their Schrodinger’s date, they were booking a two week Spring Break trip to Morocco. A few months later Kevin said I love you and Danielle replied with thank you. Thankfully, she would later redeem herself by letting him know just much she loved him back.

100 ferry rides later Kevin moved to Vancouver so they could start building their lives together. And eventually, he would propose on Kits Beach.
