Here are a few of our favorite spots for recommendations. We recently did a road trip around the island and have plenty of recommendations for accommodations, activities, and dining on many parts of the island. Please reach out to us if you would like a more detailed itinerary if you plan on exploring the island further!
Right around the corner from the Wyndham, Luquillo Beach offers beautiful beach and lots of dining options! Including La Parrilla (incredible mofongo and seafood), and the Mojito Lab!
One of the best beaches in Puerto Rico! A few minutes from the airport and Old San Juan. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area as well as many hotel options.
La Poza del Obispo is a beautiful beach located in Arecibo behind the Arecibo Lighthouse. It is known as one of the smallest beaches in Puerto Rico. Take in a bit of paradise by visiting its crystal clear waters and its tranquil environment. You will be relaxed by the spectacle of the crashing waves against the rock formations that form this small beautiful beach.
Recommend visiting in the morning when it is quiet! This is one of our favorite spots!
On the island of Culebra, which sits about 20 miles east of Puerto Rico, visitors will find a beach perfect for families, snorkelers and those looking for a remote spot that boasts a delightful aesthetic from nearly every angle. Flamenco Beach's 1 1/2-mile strip of sand is the most popular on Culebra and is often recognized by travelers and experts as the most beautiful in all of Puerto Rico.
The best way to get to Culebra is through private charter or Ferry. To buy ferry tickets use this link and be sure to schedule a few days in advance, otherwise they sell out quickly! Once on Culebra, you can get a taxi to the beach or rent a golf cart (also suggest doing this in advance).
Mosquito Bay is popular in the evenings, but the island of Vieques' daytime beachcombers like the chalky sands and serene vantage point of southwestern Sun Bay. It's also the only beach on Vieques with public facilities: The approximately 2-mile beach has lifeguards, showers, bathrooms and a small area to purchase food. Plus, the town of Esperanza (and its restaurants and bars) is just a short walk away.
Vieques, like Culebra is reachable by ferry. Use this link to schedule a trip and explore the island via golf cart. Schedule both in advance to ensure availability.
The rainforest - make sure you reserve your spot prior to visiting! They only let limited visitors in each day. Hiking as well as swimming in the many waterfalls.

Bioluminescent Bay Tour in Fajardo! More than 600,000 bioluminescent dinoflagellates live in each gallon of bay water, and recent travelers have been amazed by just how much visibility these tiny creatures provide.
We recently took this trip through Bio Bay Tours and enjoyed it! Disclosure - the glowing is not quite as bright as you would hope, but still a very cool night kayaking trip and interesting to learn about!
