Nathan and I met in the Fall of 2018. We both were working at Meijer here in Normal, IL. When we first met, Nathan tried to help pick up basket that was at my checkout lane and I told him, “I can put them away myself.” After that moment, he was like nope. I always thought he was cute, but then he would always call someone when he would be done with his shift. Long did I not know that it was his mother and not a girlfriend. LOL. We then became friends for a while until we started dating in October of 2019.

Our first date was on August 27, 2019. I did not know that this was a date. I just thought that we were going out as friend…and the rest is history.

THE PROPOSAL

Nathan proposed on December 14, 2023. A day that will forever be remembered and a day that he totally surprised me. I am a person who hates surprises, so it is very hard to surprise me. December 14, 2023 was the day of the Commerce Bank Holiday Party at the Bloomington Country Club. It was a very formal event that Nathan and I got to dress up for in a long dress and suit. It was towards the end of the party around 830pm. Nathan got up to excuse himself from the table to go to the bathroom. Christel came up to me and told me that my boss wanted to speak with me. I went up to my boss and asked her where Nathan went because I had just seen him. He came out of the bathroom and the event coordinator came up to me and asked if I was with Commerce Bank, I said “yes”. The gentleman said my coworker wanted to see me. He takes me over to this Christmas Tree where it was blocked off to make it private. I turned around and their Nathan was. He dropped on a knee with the ring, and I was SHOCKED. I dropped my clutch on the floor and blacked out. The only part I remember of his speech was “Will you Marry Me?” I said YES of course… The best part of the whole story was that I was wearing my Commerce Jacket through the whole proposal.
