Danny and Bria met through Bria’s sister Megan. They had seen each other at birthday celebrations, Halloween parties, and the Reinson Summer Lake trips since 2015, but never really spoke and really didn’t like each other. In 2021, Bria planned the annual trip to the lake for the Fourth of July, and it was the first time Danny and Bria truly met.

At first, they didn’t pay any mind to each other, as was customary on these occasions. There was a much smaller group, and it was almost impossible not to interact. They quickly realized they could be in the same room together and enjoyed each other’s company. By the end of the trip, they had spent almost every minute together and found every excuse to occupy the same space. There was a connection neither one of them expected nor could they explain.

After four days, it was time for them to go their separate ways. They both agreed it would never work, and they wouldn’t speak again. Bria lived in Arizona and Danny lived in Virginia - “They had real lives to get back to, and a long-distance relationship was not in the cards. Not to mention, they didn’t even like each other”.

Only that was denial, because they spoke every day after that trip. Phone calls, messaging, and video chats lead to creating excuses to see each other. It wasn't long before they were flying across the country to spend time together. It was complicated, but every trip “back to reality” became harder to envision without one another. It wasn’t until they were on a trip in California with Danny’s family that they finally shook off the denial and admitted to each other they were in love.

Fortunately, Bria had already planned a move back to Virginia. They started talking about what a future could look like together, instead of in separate cities. They moved in together shortly after Bria made it back to Virginia. In August of last year Danny, Bria, and the kids took a vacation to Virginia Beach where Danny asked Bria to be his wife. A random vacation, where two people didn’t even like each other, grew into their greatest love story ever.
