Kay and Danny met early in the COVID pandemic. While all of us were social distancing, the two of them were only growing closer together. After getting to know each other from a distance, they took a chance and met up in person for an unforgettable first date - Danny made Kay dinner, and they watched a movie. It was the start of something much larger than either of them expected.
By the end of their first summer, Danny and Kay declared their love for one another. Within a year, they’d met and fallen in love with each other’s families too. In fact Kay’s families cherished the couple so much, they invited Danny to the most magical place on Earth, to join in celebrating Kay’s 28th birthday. It was an unforgettable week in Disney World (with Danny creating his own magical moments creating Kay a puzzle to solve everyday), their relationship has had a little more magic ever since.
Their love continued to grow, and they moved in together in May 2022. They share a love of travel, spending time with friends, their cat, Benson, and their dog, Marty. Perhaps more than anything, Danny and Kay share a love of fandoms - whether Marvel, Buffy, Ted Lasso, or the Barbie movie. One has not witnessed true love until hearing our lovely couple argue the nuances of modern storytelling.
After 3 years of knowing and loving each other, Danny and Kay got engaged during a romantic anniversary night out, after an unforgettable dinner at Fogo de Chao.
To witness their union has been an adventure in seeing two incredible individuals become better through their love for each other. Both have become better through loving each other, and have eroded many rough edges through their commitment to one another. I can’t wait to celebrate their marriage, and to continue to witness to their enduring devotion.

When the pandemic hit (how cliche is it to frame a story from that perspective?), we were all forced to deal with a lot more isolation than most of us were accustomed to. We all formed little pods of people to spend the majority of our free time -- pods to help protect us and keep us safe. Danny and Kay were two of the people in my little group, and in a very short time frame, Danny went from being the older brother of a long time friend to one of my closest friends.
That friend group meant a lot to me because the time we spent together was so much more than just TV and boardgame nights. It provided a sorely needed spirit of levity and community. And Kay and Danny fit so well together, it felt like I'd known her for the same amount of time I'd known Danny. Like she was... also... the older brother of a long time friend...
Okay the metaphor got very garbled somewhere in there but you get the idea. The point is: I cannot wait for my friends to get married. Because they cannot stop surprising me and making me smile!
