It all started late 2023 when Danny and Emily bonded over their shared love for great food—and their shared disdain for “the city” (yes, that city). Their second date was supposed to be a simple "casual stroll" that somehow turned into a 5-hour, 10-mile trek through Minnewaska. (Spoiler alert: they both survived and actually wanted to see each other again.)

As their relationship grew, so did their faith. Danny decided to leave his home church, New York Jooan Presbyterian Church, to start attending the Korean Church of Queens to worship God alongside Emily; in August 2024, they embarked on a missions trip together to Côte d’Ivoire. Serving side by side in Africa, they strengthened their love for God and further deepened their love for each other.

Danny was captivated by Emily’s radiant smile from day one; Emily adores Danny’s thoughtful and unwavering heart. But what truly sealed the deal? The fact that they can be 100% themselves around each other—whether that means deep conversations or absolute goofiness.

2023년 연말, 원동군∙김가은의 러브스토리는 둘 다 맛집탐방을 좋아하고 맨하탄을 싫어한다는 대화를 시점으로 처음 시작됐습니다. 두 번째 데이트인 ‘가벼운 산책’은 어쩌다보니 5시간, 10마일짜리 등산코스로 바뀌었구요 (둘 다 살아남았고, 오히려 서로 또 보고 싶다고 생각했어요).

두 사람의 관계는 점점 더 깊어졌고, 믿음도 함께 자라갔습니다. 동군이는 어릴 적부터 뉴욕주안교회를 다니다 가은이와 함께 예배를 드리고 싶어 퀸즈한인교회에 참석하기 시작했고, 2024년 8월에 함께 아프리카 단기선교를 다녀왔어요. 코트디부아르에서 나란히 섬기며 하나님에 대한 사랑을 더욱 깊이 느꼈고, 서로에 대한 사랑도 한층 더 두터워졌죠.

동군이는 가은이의 밝고 예쁜 미소에 첫눈에 반했고, 가은이는 동군이의 사려 깊고 온화한 성격을 의지하게 되었습니다. 하지만 그들이 서로를 가장 사랑하는 이유는 함께 있을 때 가장 "나답다"는 거예요. 깊은 대화를 나누든, 가은이가 동군이한테 쉬지 않고 아재개그 무리수를 두든, 함께 있는 모든 순간이 편하고 즐겁다는 사실이 이 둘이 사랑의 서약을 맺도록 확신을 주었습니다.
