Q + A

What is the dress code?

The bride will be wearing a non-traditional dress so please DO NOT wear red or gold. If you want to wear white, that is okay! We are asking people dress formal/black-tie optional. So, a tuxedo isn't required, but can still be worn if preferred. For women, a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit. Dresses that shows the ankles are acceptable. Basically we want people to dress to impress. This is once in a lifetime event for the couple so let's treat it as such!

I want to buy the couple something customized. What last name should I put?

Francis and Darby are combining their last names (with Francis taking his father's) to symbolize the creation their new family, the combination of their existing ones. Francis Yarjah and Darby Matt present themselves as Darby and Francis Yarjatt.

Can I bring my tiny humans with?

You love your littles. We love your littles. But this is our ultimate date night and we'd love for you to join us for a night out. For that reason, we are asking that children under 15 be kept home.

I think you missed inviting someone. Can I bring them with?

We are more than blessed to have such a big community to support us. If we invited everyone we wanted to our wedding, it would be around 500 people (the venue doesn't hold close to that much, let alone to have room for seats/tables). We want to have a relatively intimate night and to be able to spend ample time with each guest. For that reason, only people listed on the invites can come to the wedding. Thanks for understanding and your support!

Where will the couple honeymoon?

Darby and Francis plan to visit Sierra Leone in December 2025 to celebrate with the rest of his family. Anyone from the Minnesota wedding is invited to fly out and join them (white sand beaches anyone) and have a little vacay for themselves if they'd like.

What is the food going to look like?

There will be a couple of appetizers, some with meat and some without, during cocktail hour. Dinner will be buffet style of home-made African, European, and American dishes. There will be dishes without pork for our religious friends, and without meat for our vegetarian friends. There will be an assortment of desserts. Late night snacks will be available. Any concerns, please reach out to Darby or Francis.
