Our Wedding

The short story is that we met at Sight & Sound, got to know each other backstage, fell in love, and the rest is history. However, there is so much more to our story and the way God brought us together. Here is a deeper glimpse taken from each of our perspectives. Her Story: We officially met on our first day at Sight & Sound in Branson during orientation. I went to find a seat and there happened to be an open space right next to Connor. We introduced ourselves and chatted for a little bit and I thought, “He seems friendly” and that was that. He was dating someone else at the time and I was not looking to date anyone. Time went by and we were about half way through our show run of Queen Esther. Our backstage patterns were well established and I began to notice how I kept running into Connor. He was single at this point, but I was still not looking for anything. We quickly became friends and I looked forward to each moment I got to spend with him backstage. It wasn’t until he left for a trip to Pennsylvania that I realized I had developed feelings for him. It surprised me how much I missed him while he was gone especially since I hadn’t felt this way in a very long time. After he came back, I started to wonder if he had similar feelings towards me. Somehow I began to see him more frequently backstage. It was like he was finding more and more opportunities to talk to me so did that mean he felt the same way? About a week later, he casually asked if I wanted to come to a 4th of July celebration. Conveniently, he needed my phone number to send all the information since I do not have social media. From that moment on, we talked almost non stop. I couldn’t help, but notice his generous and thoughtful nature. He possesses a confidence that is not arrogant, but stands up for the truth and acts out of love. He is a loyal friend and has a serving heart that will drop everything to come help anyone in need whether friend or foe. He is creative, talented, funny, and very intelligent. Best of all, he loves the Lord and seeks after Him whole heartedly. He stands on the Word of God and seeks to find truth. Needless to say, I was smitten. However, having learned from my past, I was very cautious not to jump into anything the Lord did not want for me. I prayed and kept feeling at peace toward the decision of dating Connor. There were moments that both of us experienced where God confirmed that this was the direction He wanted us to go in. Granted, I still proceeded with heavy caution asking the Lord to give me wisdom since He truly knows Connor’s heart. Finally, one day in March, it hit me. I was reflecting on the wonderful characteristics Connor has and how much he truly seeks after the Lord. He encourages me to do the same, pointing me to Jesus in everything he does. He is patient, kind, and has never once raised his voice at me. He genuinely loves me for me and does not put emphasis on my faults, but always lifts me up when I’m down. He makes me laugh and makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. He loves serving others just like I do and is one of the most thoughtful people I know. He never backs out on his word and is loyal to end. It was like a wake up call from the Lord when I realized that I never want to live life without him. I think most of me knew from the beginning that he was the one for me, but the rest of me just needed time to catch up. Connor has been the most wonderful unexpected gift from God. I feel so grateful and extremely blessed to marry this sweet man. His Story: We began working for Sight & Sound the same day, meeting at orientation. I noticed her kind and gentle nature, but that was about it. I was with another at the time, so that’s where my friendship with Darcy lived. “Hmm, she seems sweet. That’s cool.” Throughout the run of Queen Esther, I would see her backstage. In my primary, I saw her before a couple of scenes a show. If I went in for my understudy role, we spent a few more scenes together. I enjoyed her company, and was intentional to make an effort to talk to her. By the time I was a single man, I realized some new convictions about what I need my partner to be. My previous partner did not hold scripture as the infallible Word of God, and that scared me. I earnestly prayed that my partner would love the Lord, and believe His entire Word with their whole heart. Until the Lord provided a woman who clearly and abundantly met that criteria, I would swear off dating. By summer, I’d made a few more friends, Mallory Allen and Noel Parrales. The Parrales’ hosted a game night once a month, and they invited me over. Darcy was also apart of these, which I did not know prior. After that game night, we both stayed at Noel’s apartment [longer than reasonable, so thanks guys, we owe ya:) ] and kept talking. The way that she spoke about the Lord, it was so clear that she not only held His Word as the upmost authority, but had a deep relationship with Him. That caught my attention. It was also, very soon after I’d “sworn off” dating. I know the ways that people talk. Everyone would think it’s too soon. As we spent more time together, I was positive that she was everything I needed and more. I prayed, and sought the Lord and counsel, He taught me to release the judgement of man. Man looks at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. As I earnestly sought the Lord, the Lord gave me Darcy. A woman who loves the Lord, and is so sensitive to the workings of the Spirit. Darcy keeps me focused on the Lord. And I have the privilege of keeping her focused on him. I am no longer my own. I am her’s, and there is no one else’s I’d rather be. Anecdote from Connor [ I love to drive around aimlessly after work, it’s something of a hobby. I invited Darcy on one of these drives. We’d randomly pull from my extensive CD collection and listen to whatever. BEFORE(!!!) we talked about our (obviously) blossoming relationship, the CD we chose that late night, was good ole KENNY G- BREATHLESS. What is more romantic than soft jazz and a supple sax?? Not much that I can think of. Just thought you should know.]
