Our story started in 2012, when Darius transferred to Jayla's high school his junior year. While we saw each other in passing, we didn't speak much until one of Jayla's friends told Darius' friend that she thought he was cute. We exchanged numbers and I guess you could say we had a "high school fling."

After graduation, Darius went to Sam Houston State University and we kept in touch here and there. The following year, Jayla graduated and went to Texas State University. While in college, we would always find ourselves randomly checking in with each other just to see how life was going. In 2017, Darius came to Texas State for homecoming and we decided to give us another shot. After that visit, we went on our first date in November to Zoolights in Houston and have been inseperable ever since. In February of 2018, Darius asked Jayla to be his girlfriend and in 2021, we decided to move in together.

On August 18, 2023, Darius proposed to Jayla at Brenner's on the Bayou under the Gazebo with red roses scattered everywhere with their immediate family hiding behind the greenery.

Our journey may not have been the perfect "love story," but it's OURS and we wouldn't change any of it. We are so excited to share this moment with you all and celebrate our forever.
