Darrell had recently moved to Omaha, NE to begin his role as Associate Conference Minister. He reached out to a number of community leaders to inquire about potential partnerships and connections. Kentavis who is a MixxedFit master educator was amenable to a meet up about potentially offering a Gospel dance fitness class. They both met at LIV Lounge in Aksarben near Darrell's house. After Kentavis' final arrival (45 mins. late) the two hit it off smashingly. Darrell and Kenny both shared their love of God, all things church, and they both had an openness to a new and exciting friendship. They shut the lounge down after a three hour conversation. Kenny left with a commitment to visit some churches with Darrell in his new role, and Darrell left boldly asking Kentavis for a goodbye kiss, which he obliged to give a few times.

Our first "real date". As friends, we went to Las Vegas to celebrate Halloween and discerned on our trip together that we might try to elevate our friendcation to a baecation.

Throughout the course of their friendship and dating, Kentavis has almost never missed a Sunday that Darrell was preaching or presenting at a local church and its become one of the many blessings of their partnership.

Kenny and Darrell took one of their first vacations together, first celebrating Kenny's birthday and the new year together and then travelling to Las Vegas to keep up the festivities.

Darrell and Kenny decided to quarantine together. Who knew the 19+ months would allow them to spend countless hours together living through racial, health, and societal pandemics. The time strengthened their bond, helped them truly get to know and fully see each other and was the assurance that they could survive come what may!

Darrell and Kenny made to the bold move to Bloomfield, CT and The Goodwin Estate. Darrell to serve as Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference, and Kentavis as " First G" and MDE Coordinator for the Department of Children and Families for the State of Connecticut.

We welcomed our mothers and sisters to have a COVID Christmas with us in our new home. In honor of our new town we all got town sweatshirts.

On June 15, 2021 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Darrell asked Kentavis for his hand in marriage. After a beautiful walk toward Vallarta Bay, sprinkled with red roses and a sign in big white letters asking the important question, "Will you Marry Me?" Kentavis gave an emphatic YES!
