David & Emir’s Love Story

David and Emir’s journey began in June 2023, thanks to a dear friend, Jason Amsellem. Having met Emir at his synagogue in North Miami, Jason saw in her the perfect match for David—an elegant woman with deep Jewish values. Intrigued but selective, Emir wanted to see David in person before deciding.

A few weeks later, she attended a Miami Sephardic Club event he hosted, quietly observing him from a distance. She liked what she saw. That night, she accidentally stepped on his foot—though David doesn’t remember—but she left with a wonderful impression. Encouraged, she agreed to share her number, excited to get to know him.

From miles apart, their connection grew quickly. David, in New York, texted Emir right away. Conversations turned into daily exchanges, and soon, he flew to Miami for their first date. On a stormy Sunday, David arrived at her doorstep, umbrella in hand, eager to meet her. Though nervous about her English, Emir quickly felt at ease as they talked over cocktails at Turnberry Resort. From that night on, their love story truly began.

For the next year and a half, they traveled back and forth, cherishing every moment together—beach days, city explorations, home-cooked meals, and simple nights in each other’s company. David adored Emir’s incredible cooking, especially her gourmet Shabbat meals, and Emir loved the way David made her feel cherished and supported. Together, they built not only a relationship but a partnership, working side by side on David’s Miami Sephardic Club projects and Emir’s kosher ice cream business.

Their Sephardic heritage and Jewish faith deepened their bond. David, with Cuban and Turkish roots, and Emir, raised in Buenos Aires with Syrian and Moroccan family background, embraced each other’s traditions. They seamlessly switch between Spanish and English in conversation and they share a love for Arabic culture. David and Emir hope to visit David's family's homeland of Turkey, as well as other countries around the globe.

As their love grew, so did their families’ connection. Their mothers, Sara and Sarah, became dear friends, and David’s twin sister found a lifelong bond with Emir. Their families came together as one, bound by love and tradition. Their families love sharing shabbat and Jewish holidays together.

Then, on February 17, 2025, David made it forever. On a crisp winter evening, against the shimmering New York City skyline, he took Emir for a walk along the river in Long Island City—and asked her to be his wife.

With hearts full of love, David and Emir are excited to build their home in Miami, raise a family, and create a lifetime of beautiful memories. They can’t wait to celebrate this joyous moment with all of you.
