Our Story

How we met...

Picture of How we met...

David and Nathan met on Instagram, for real. David was his usual charming self and messaged Nathan on September 5, 2017 (Nathan's birthday), complimenting him on the most important feature in a person: looks. They decided to meet in person on September 22. David drove to Monroe, Louisiana, and spent the weekend with Nathan. They attended an open bible study, church services and visited the elderly in the local nursing home. At that point they realized each other had hearts of gold and wanted to liquidate that gold into cash to move to a bigger city with more churches and nursing homes...and the rest is history.

That's not the exact details of the weekend, but it's a good story to tell the kiddos if they ever ask.

The proposal...

Change of tone to the actual facts. David was never fond of public spectacles of proposals. All that mattered to Nathan was that a major life event be followed by a celebratory Michelob Ultra. On May 6, 2018, a little over one month after their move to Denver, David decided to pop the question. He knew he wanted to ask Nathan to marry him in a private, but memorable place. On a Sunday hike on Morrison Trail, David waited for the perfect spot to set up his camera on video mode and pretend to pose for a picture with Nathan. Unfortunately, nerves, altitude, and lack of cardio endurance prompted David to carry out his plan before they actually reached the top of the trail. He set up the camera, got all sappy in his speech, and took a knee. Nathan's immediate response was "You're scaring me," followed by about a dozen "Oh my God"'s while clutching his imaginary pearls. It took about 3 seconds after that for Nathan to say "Yes." Because of the weight loss on that fateful hike, both of them had to immediately send in their rings for a 1/2 size reduction.
